I think it's been forever since I've posted picture spam, especially of my knitting! Giant pictures under all the cuts!

Had dinner with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] oursin yesterday night, which would have been wonderful, save that my allergies have decided to strike again. They're just getting worse and worse -- yesterday it was itching all over and gunk in my throat, and today my eyes are all squinty and my nose won't stop running.

The scary thing is that I'm already on a 24-hr allergy med; whatever sets me off must be terrible in the past few days to get past it.

On the plus side, [livejournal.com profile] yhlee, I finished knitting your kimono! I just have to seam it now. [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue, you're next. I sent you an email.

Hopefully I'll post pictures later today of knitting, rats, and my trip to LA.

Wow, I feel like it's been a while since I've posted picture spam. Part of it is because I took some pictures, and then lost the memory card. ARGH.

Anyway, I actually finished some knitting!

Yaaay! I have finished the knitting part of [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija's tatami kimono!

It still must be blocked and seamed, which may take a while, but the knitting part is done! I think that took roughly two-and-a-half months, since I didn't get the pattern till mid-April.

Pictures to come.

So, [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue, I think you're next in line. Let me know if you're still interested, and if so, what size you think you are and what yarn you want. There are some suggested yarns and prices in the original post.

I feel like it's been a while since I've picture spammed people! In the meantime, I have been relentlessly knitting the tatami kimono, which takes so long!

I forgot; I actually have been doing a few things aside from watching Honey and Clover. Or, more accurately, while watching Honey and Clover, as the tatami kimono pattern is relatively brainless and thereby good anime knitting.

Mail!

I've been having some exciting mail days lately!

  1. [livejournal.com profile] yhlee! The 2006 Vividcon DVD arrived! EEEEEE! I thought it would be lost forever, as it was sent to my old address, but good old USPS worked its magic and rerouted it and I have it! That totally made my week, and I am planning on hunkering down on the couch with easy knitting to watch "Fix You" and "Have You Heard" and oh so many other excellent vids on my tv.

  2. ROCKIN' SOCK CLUB OMG JOY! Um. Yes. It is quite possible that I have been bitten by the sock bug even though I uh... have yet to finish my first pair. But that's because the foot is in pure stockinette, and it is boring me to death, and I want to get to the cool parts like the heel! I started knitting Grumperina's Roza's socks from IK Spring 07, but I got really bored with brioche stitch. So I tore it out and started toe-up Happy Socks. Except it's taking a while to get to the lace, and once I got past the figure-eight toe (so cool! so proud of self for figuring it out!) and the increases, it is stockinette for what feels like miiiiiiiiiiles. At least it's entertaining watching the yarn self-stripe.

Also, I have decided that I can indeed do dpns, but I don't particularly enjoy them and want my magic loop again. I have also decided toe-up is the way to go, as I can try it on as I knit and knit without fear of running out of yarn before finishing the toe!

Wait, got distracted again, meant to talk about Rockin' Sock Club. Anyway, I am not completely in love with the colorway, but the pattern looks cool. But I have decided to knit some other sock with the yarn, as I don't like how it pools on other people's and use some other sock yarn on the Inside Out pattern. More news later...

  3. Wild Adaptor 1-4 in Japanese from [livejournal.com profile] vom_marlowe, joy!

The only sad thing is that my Sundara yarn has not come yet. This wouldn't be so tragic, given that I will forever have more stash than I have projects, except for the fact that the tatami kimono pattern has also not yet come argh want to knit it now have beautiful yarn sitting in closet woe. Am emailing Sundara to check.

Um, also, are people really bored by my obsessive knitting posts? I figure they probably don't make much sense if you don't knit...

I haven't been reading much lately, as a) I haven't been sleeping well lately and therefore have been falling asleep in the middle of books and b) Remix has been eating up my time. But really, it's not like I don't have enough hobbies to fill up all my time and then some anyway...

Random notes

  1. Done with finals, yay! *collapses* I think I did ok, but of course, I may very well have overlooked the completely obvious, especially with regards to combinatorics. But who cares now! Two weeks of no class! I anticipate much anime watching.

  2. Tatami kimono people, I checked out more options at the local yarn store and will be posting about that later. [livejournal.com profile] sophia_helix was also nice enough to volunteer, so if any of you don't want to wait for me to knit something up, feel free to email her. Just let me know so I won't pester you for yarn and whatnot. I've already bought the pattern and am waiting for them to ship it to me.

  3. In rattie news, Ren has somehow managed to lose not just one, but both of his upper incisors. I am just as boggled as you. I told [livejournal.com profile] rilina this, and got a tentative: "How smart... uh... So... rat-wise, how does Ren rate on the intelligence scale?"

    "Er," I said. "Er, yeah...."

I am hoping that they grow back, as the poor guy can't eat anything too solid right now, and I'm hoping his lower incisors don't grow sideways or something completely wonky like that. He is currently on an emergency diet of quinoa, as I had some leftover in the pantry. Enough protein for humans, probably good for rats, I figure.

    But really. Both teeth? WTF?!
