Argh

I've decided to name the new rats Ed and Al! I was really debating between that and Doumeki and Watanuki for a while, but I wanted names that wouldn't be mangled by the vet. And while I thought Doumeki and Watanuki were appropriate, I was trying to train the guys to come when I made a certain noise by feeding them peas. Al picked up on it in about three seconds while Ed would come and somehow not figure out how to get the pea and then try to grab it from Al. Not necessarily entirely in character, but I can totally see them squabbling like the Elrics. And yes, I totally pronounce it "Edo" and "Aru" in my head.

The unhappy news is that though the rat bite swelling from last week went down, it started up again over the weekend. I was just going to try to wait it out, since it wasn't too bad, but I woke up around five this morning and my finger was really hurting and it was so swollen that the skin was taut. Skipped class to go to urgent care, felt like a total idiot for doing so and wondered if I was overreacting, got triaged into urgent care and felt reassured about overreacting, now have appointment to see a hand specialist this evening to see if it needs to be drained. Please have them say no! I fear sharp objects!

Am now armed with antibiotics and Advil.

Oh no! You were definitely right to go straight to urgent care. (Adrian even tagged "pain that wakes you up from sleep" as a sign to go to the ER.)
