Rather annoyed at Salon's little write up on Angel ...

Wesley is the poor man's Giles?! What? Has Laura Miller not watched, oh.... anything past Buffy S3?

And I also have quibbles with the idea that the show has to be just like Buffy to be good, speaking as someone who really enjoyed the noir-ness and the darkness and the less-quippy atmosphere along with Buffy...

Truly. It's like what someone wrote about people reading Harry Potter and saying it wasn't like LotR:

Actually, in that case, it's more like saying - "This tasty cheesecake shaped like a cat isn't meowing. It's broken." But a cheesecat doesn't need to meow.

It's ok.. Before reading your last sentence I was about to go into some extended analogy as to the baker of the cheesecake who went on to grilling steaks and I think it is probably best that I was stopped ;).
