I got problem set 7 back, which was the insanely hard one that had me inflicting much whining on everyone, and I have a 70/70! I suspect this is because they only grade a random 50% of the problems, and I think they skipped the one I got wrong, haha.

Hopefully PS8, which I just turned in, will be ok, though I don't know, because I sort of made up a program at the end because I don't know programming and they wanted an algorithm.

Aaaand... PS9 is due on Friday, and then I have finals on Monday OMGWTF NO TIME! Thankfully the professor is cool and realizes there is not much time and is cutting some material out.

I like my professor quite a bit, even though I have, uh, never seen her live. She's not the absolute best presenter ever, but she thinks this stuff is cool and always tries to bring the subject back to real-world applications, and throws in some math history as well. But mostly, she thinks this stuff is cool, and it's very contagious. When I watch her go through proofs and prove things, I think, "Wow! That is so nifty!"

And then I go back and try to do the same thing and realize how hard it is!

Ha! I have managed enough CSS to make myself a banner graphic at the top of my LJ without using tables! Joy!

It is probably a sign of extreme dorkiness that now I want to convert my entire LJ layout so that it is table-less. Given the amount of time that stupid banner took (make minor edit in Photoshop, save to .jpg, upload to Scrapbook, find URL, compile S2 style, find that one detail is off, start over), table-less-ness is probably not a good idea. Also, my style probably doesn't work at all in various browsers, as I am being a bad web person and not testing. Oh well! For once, I am not going for usability!

I figure anyone who hates it can always append ?format=light or use the most wonderful thing ever, bookmarklets (don't work in IE6 and above). My favorites are "zap colors" and "zap images." Pretty much the only reason I finally ended up switching from Generator to A Sturdy Gesture and from S1 to S2 (besides tags) was so that I could have custom comment pages. Usually I find custom comment pages a huge annoyance, but the one good thing about A Sturdy Gesture is that even if you zap colors and zap images, the boxes and indents around the comments remain, so I can still read the entire comment tree coherently, as opposed to completely losing track of who is replying to whom.

I would also like to note that that stupid 1 pixel border under the banner image took forever to figure out because I completely forgot about the border-bottom attribute. *headdesk*

I am so obsessive!

Also, I got really sick of my pink-and-grey scheme really, really fast. So now it's all pink and girly and I can pretend it's spring already and the very bestest thing ever is that the theme is "Sakura of DOOM!"

I am so twelve, but I love it so much.

Totally spamming LJ, but I had to note this down:

I have finally conquered S2 after many aborted efforts! Thank you so much, [livejournal.com profile] rilina! I didn't end up using your style, but I managed to figure out how to customize things using it, and I built myself my own style! Well, I really just cannibalized an existing one, but I would like to note that I managed to add "add to memories" links at the top of all my entries!

Yes, it sounds small, but the effort! The blood! The sweat!

Now all I have to do is go back and tag all my entries...

Ha! I have conquered my mailbox! I switched to Thunderbird after my laptop crashed and have been using it for a while. But I actually like Outlook better. Plus, Outlook has the giant calendar thing, and I think I need that. And Thunderbird would just do these little annoying things, one of them being automatically being set to download everything from my mail server instead of leaving it on there.

So when I switched back to Outlook, I had no mail! But, thanks to the power of Teh Internets, I have managed to change all my emails from one file type to another, download them all in Outlook Express, and then export them to Outlook.

I win!
