Sarah Connor Chronicles 2x13-2x14

It is not the show's fault, but I keep doing double-takes every time Kyle Reese is on the screen. It isn't anything the actor does wrong; it's just that he's not Michael Biehn. And that he looks too young and not scruffy enough, but I suppose some of that can be fanwanked with the moved-up timeline.
I am still not sure what to think about the trans character in 2x13. On the one hand, it's nice to have one. On the other hand, dead.
With regard to the series and black men, I am still completely puzzled.
I very much like John Henry (although again with the weirdness of the name and body mismatch! Even though I do not think having a black actor play him would be all that reassuring either...), and I love the talk between John Henry and Catherine Weaver.
I am amazed by how much I love the Jesse and Riley show, considering how bored I was with Riley before. But seriously. It is awesome. I totally want Jesse and Riley fic, either slashy or not. Really, I do not care. Plus, it's very much nice to have Jesse with an agenda of her own and being an active agent in it. I, uh, still don't know if the character is breaking Asian woman stereotypes, because I am so irrationally in love with her.
While I really liked Felicia and her interaction with Sarah, it also continues the show's trend of keeping the interactions between Sarah and other women as one-offs or as not powerful plot drivers (see Mely's post). Which is possibly why I like the Jesse and Riley show so much; it has different power dynamics than most white woman-Asian woman friendships on TV, or at least, in my very limited experience (please tell me if it is totally stereotypical!), and keeping the relationship between women gets rid of some of the icky dynamics so frequent in white man-Asian woman relationships.
I am... unsure of what to think about Sarah and her visions/hallucinations. On the one hand, it is a carryover from T2. On the other hand, it dovetails very nicely with the madwoman stereotype, especially with regard to women with power. On the hypocritical side, I probably would not care if they were visions/hallucinations of Judgment Day with fire and bombs, as opposed to possible alien spacecraft.
On the completely off-topic side, I am so glad I am taking a resistance training PE class right now and hope that by the end of the semester, I will be able to do a pull-up! I am inspired by Sarah Connor. See? TV shows can improve your life!
I am puzzled by the last bits with Derek. Was that an implicit handoff of Sarah from Kyle to Derek? Is Derek being positioned as a romantic lead? I am not sure how I feel about this!
