oyceter: Two of my rats in a tissue box (rat)
[personal profile] oyceter

The leaf lace scarf I made for [livejournal.com profile] vom_marlowe. The yarn is a hand-dyed silk from ArtYarns, and my camera in no way captures the depth of the color or the subtle variations in it.

I modified the design somewhat to make the columns between the leaves purl instead of garter, so the opposite side would have wavy knit columns.

Ed-rat and Al-rat lazing about.

Ed-rat timidly creeps to the door...

And steals food. I swear, by the way these guys eat, you'd think I was cruelly starving them.

Al-rat! Whiskers!

Ren gobbles down food.

Al-rat steals food.

Al-rat, lurking. He is much fatter now!

Ren pretends he is a blogging rat.

Rats bravely venturing out of the safe blanket. These two guys are so funny! They scamper back under cover at any scary noise (i.e. if I sneeze).

Ed-rat is a little braver than Al-rat, even though Al-rat can beat him up more easily.

Exploring the world of my bed.

Al-rat peeks out.

Rat brothers!

Ed-rat begging for food.

Beautiful knitting, and adorable rats!

(Do you mind if I ask what pattern you used?)

Me too! That is exactly the kind of pattern I'd like to knit, truly, and I have some excellent silk yarn that's just begging for it....

Thanks!

I'm not queuing it at Ravelry, because I have about 70 other things to make, but I bookmarked it! (Aha! I found you and friended you!)

Now I know I've been at the office too long ... I was certain that the post on my f-list said something about knitting giant rats! (Perhaps my current re-read of To Ride a Rathorn had something to do with it.)

And that is a truly gorgeous scarf!

The scarf is beautiful, and your ratties are so cute! I want to cuddle them and let them scamper all over me.

I read that as "rats knitting" and thought "My, what talented ratties--"

...clearly I have not had enough caffeine yet today!

I know!

For all this talk of "domestic" animals, they're not very good at housework! My cats never have dinner ready, or even the dishes done, when I come home.

(Now I want to do a picture of knitting rats. Maybe one rat knitting, and the other one chewing it up as they go...)
