Had great fun in San Francisco yesterday, seeing the Chinese New Year parade (firecrackers! dragons! lions! kung fu kids!) and meeting [livejournal.com profile] double_helix and [livejournal.com profile] hesychasm. This is despite the fact that the Chinese restaurant we went to afterwards was really, really awful ;).

Spent today doing sundry things and have continued my search for rats ^_^. The apartment here won't let me get cats or dogs, and the hamster is stupid, so I was thinking of getting pet rats -- still looking around. So far have an appointment to look at rats at a rescue center, which is nice. Although their cages are giant! Especially the ones for the guy rats...

Then we went and saw Singin' in the Rain at the Stanford Theatre, which was awesome. I really like that place -- cheap(er) tickets, old posters everywhere, and an organ! Which plays between and after shows! Plus, they show old movies ^_^. So I've seen Singin' in the Rain before and love it, but it was awesome watching it on big screen with an audience. There was actually a pretty good audience there today, lots more people than when we went to see Some Like It Hot. People laughed at the right parts and even clapped after the Moses Supposes number (which I love). I think people wanted to clap after Make 'Em Laugh but weren't sure.

I really love watching movies in theaters, especially if there's a good crowd.

Also strolled around Stanford Mall because the weather is really wonderful right now! I was so excited -- blue skies, birds singing, and poppies all over the mall! It's nice to feel like winter is on its last legs over here... if I were back in Princeton, we'd probably still be ankle deep in slushy, grey, gritty snow. Yuck.

Actually started off the day meeting with some lady who does HR consulting type stuff, thanks to dad... and it was actually good and not stupid sounding, like I was scared of. We kind of talked a bit about how I have no idea what I want to do, and she's giving me some of those weird psych tests. Don't know if it'll work, but hey, worth a try (and free). Plus, she said that what I'm doing at the bookstore (the pricing and internet research at least) is marketing! So ha! I have an angle on the resume. This is good. And it was nice because apparently her daughter was an EAS and English major, no idea what she wanted to do, ended up in Japan three years teaching, then moved here and didn't know what to do. And now she's happily career bound. It's just nice knowing I am not the only person sitting here waffling around with no direction to my life.

Just watched Serenity for the first time.

It did drag a bit. But damn, so much better than Train Job.

I want to be in this universe more, and it irks me to no small extent that I can't. Well. Twelve more episodes at least.

And I heart Simon. And Kaylee.
