Once Upon a Time 1x07 The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter
Fri, Dec. 23rd, 2011 09:59 amYay, actually caught up with a TV show...
I kind of wish they weren't pushing the "not wanting a romantic connection = having too many walls" thing with Emma, although at least it is also the case with her in terms of Henry and friendships. This is mostly just a pet peeve of mine, since I am actually all for not wanting a romantic connection, particularly when one's life is not in place. I also dislike how having Graham in the picture made Emma and Regina romantic rivals as well as maternal rivals, since I feel like that's one of the most portrayed types of female relationships on TV.
On the other hand, I am not very sorry that Graham was fridged for Emma angst. And I am a big fan of how the show is systemically deepening the connections among Regina, Emma, and Mary Margaret, as it bodes well for the show maintaining its female focus in the long run.
Still annoyed that the Mirror is portrayed by a black man.
Laughed to myself at the "he was literally raised by wolves!" bit. Also, I love how Emma's way of proving he has a heart wasn't a "but you are attracted to me" and rather a "well, you have a pulse, duh." Was a bit put off by the skimpier clothes Emma is in for scenes with Graham but ah well.
I was also a bit sad to realize that the Evil Queen's grief with Snow White was faked, since I thought it would have been interesting to have a more friendly relationship turn sour. And what did Snow do? I had assumed it was killing the Evil Queen's child by accident or something, but this personal secret thing? Hrm. On a slighter note, I totally want the Evil Queen's clothes. Especially the ones with the fancy shiny stand-up collars.
In conclusion, I would probably be more coherent if I had more sleep...
