Currently very irked because I was shopping for suits. Apparently there are no good suits to be found when one needs them. I feel this is the First Law of shopping -- things that you actually need now (as opposed to: will be practical eventually) can never be found. This holds true even if said thing should be something easy to find, like black pants.

Actually, it's not that I couldn't find any. It's that I couldn't find any that fit! Grrr. Much less find anything on sale... There'd be a suit jacket my size, but no bottom, or the perfect bottom, but a jacket cut that was totally wrong, and after going to three different stores, I was about to tear my hair out.

Shopping is only fun when done in leisure, during sales so one can pick up stuff for later in the season. This is why I buy my winter coats at the end of January and summer stuff during late August. Plus, suits are really boring. I kept wanting to drift off to look at happy bright summer colored clothes with all sorts of frills and whatnot. They look like such cheerful clothes!

Also, despite my Dress for Success rant, I find I am drawn more to skirt suits because it is absolutely impossible to find pants that fit. The waist is too big and the hips are too small, it makes my butt look big, it makes my thighs look big, they assume my waist is somewhere where it is not naturally located, they assume my legs are a lot longer than they actually are, etc. Impossible. At least with skirts, if the hips and waist fit, you're about ready to go.

ETA: also insanely jealous of everyone going to WisCon. Argh! It looks so interesting!

I hate suit shopping. Rarely can I find one that looks good. I naturally gravitate toward pants suits, cause they're more practical and everything, but I've gotta agree that skirt suits just fit those of us who aren't lanky 5 foot 10 supermodels a helluva lot better.

If we could just wear jeans or cargo to work, how much easier would life be?

Argh, I know!! Just because I am a size 8 does not mean my legs are oh, five feet long or something.

I wish so much we could just wear casual clothes to work! I can in the bookstore, which is really nice. I do like looking snazzy in suits, but getting to that point is just. so. annoying.

I don't get women's pants these days

I did my annual grin-and-bear-it shopping trip in December and found two pairs of pants that I don't like but it was all I could find that fit. The waist on both pairs of pants is huge! They're like men's pants. They'd fall right off my ass if I didn't squinch them with a belt in a way they were obviously not meant to be worn. I've looked at how other women where the same style, and I think they're suppose to be low-rider, kind of hip-huggers. But jeez, if I let them hang there like they're supposed to, the crotch of the pants would be down at my knees.

Urgh.

Ugh, I hate that. I went to look for jeans a few months ago -- so impossible! Advertisements everywhere saying "five inches below your natural waistline!" I don't WANT waists five inches below my natural waistline! Maybe one or two, but I like not feeling as though my pants are going to fall off.

Ugh, I'm right with you. My workplace is sort of casual, but I still have trouble with work pants. Right now I am wearing pants that are two sizes too big so that they wouldn't be painted-on-tight in the thighs. Even though I took in the waist almost 10 inches they are still too big at that point, and are constantly falling down (no belt loops). Fun stuff!

Ugh. I've decided that pants are the worst thing ever to shop for. With the possible exception of a nice dress, but then, one always needs pants while one rarely needs nice dresses.

Stupid fashion industry.
