It's bright and beautiful and sunny again! It's amazing how much it improves my mood.

I should be going to buy a suit sometime for interviews (I had other ones, except I have *ahem* outgrown them. Outgrown being "ate too much and do not fit"). I really don't want to though. It's no fun going shopping by myself. It's not even that much fun shopping with the boy (although he is improving). Hrm. I need my mom or my sister or more girlfriends who shop here.

Haha, I am such a girly, fobby girl. I'm also glad it's nice weather because now I can wear my skirts and not have my legs freeze off. My sister said she saw me in the airport when I was picking her up and was thinking, "Wow that girl looks so fobby! Hey wait, that's my sister!"

Hrmph.

The Nor'east Mini Roses catalogue came in the mail too, and I am so tempted! And everywhere I drive, rose bushes are in full bloom. Except I must remember the ones I got last year have all died off, due to spider mites, powdery mildew, and criminal negligence on my part. Oh, and the squirrels knocking them off the balcony all the time probably didn't help.

Maybe I will wait until I can have an actual yard.

I watched Iron Chef America last night -- thought Sakai should have won over Bobby Flay. I didn't see them cooking, so I can't say, but Bobby Flay's stuff looked a lot more boring and not as good to eat. Something seems missing from Iron Chef America -- I don't know, maybe the contestants are not quite as daring or something? It was interesting watching it and then watching normal Iron Chef after (secret ingredient oxtail!) in which the people were using stuff like fat netting and horse mane fat and various stuff. One of my favorite parts of watching is just seeing how weird it can get (oxtail rice porridge, French style! Oxtail croquettes!) etc. I wonder if the judges for Iron Chef America are more conservative foodwise? The OC actress looked kind of grossed out by sweetmeats and lobster mousse and stuff. Mmmm, food shows.

And I like skirts too, just not pantyhose!

Love it when it is completely obscure to Western culture. Not a big fan of Bobby Flay. He came to popularity in an overblown gust and is actually a very sloppy cook. He doesn't have a very historical sense about cooking. Does his thing well but never goes beyond. So your description of his work on the Iron Chef makes a lot of sense.

The one I really like is the guy that goes around the world and eats stuff called a Cooks Tour on Food Network. Another show that is excellent is called Globe Treker. On this I saw a guy eat a still beating snake heart. Heady stuff. The travel info is excellent too.

Good luck with the interviews and the roses. I have never had luck with the miniatures.

The Cook's Tour guy is Anthony Bourdain, the author of the vivid and funny food memoirs A COOK'S TOUR and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL. I gave the former, revolting cobra heart eating scene and all, to several family members last Christmas. I highly recommend his books.

I agree! I gave one of his books (I think A Cook's Tour) to my brother in law for Christmas this year. He had been looking for it in Toronto but had sold out everywhere. Great book.
