[livejournal.com profile] rilina and I were at the library today when we encountered this very memorable cover.

Groping aside, I actually want to read it now!

In other news, I have also bought the Nalini Singh book about shapeshifter condos and the first omnibus for Night World. Whoo! My sister owns Daughters of Darkness and Spellbinder in Taiwan, but now I have my own!

Also, when I was telling [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija and Rilina about shapeshifter condos, they both misheard it as "shapeshifter condoms." Which, of course, actually makes more sense given the romance novel context. Now I am very curious to know if shapeshifters have very special condom needs along with condo needs.

(Hello people who found me via Wiscon! Um, I do plan on posting about serious things too. Eventually... After I stop being distracted by paranormals... Someday...)

I don't think a POCKET is what's being picked there!

Shapeshifter condoms! I actually forgot that until you mentioned it. I was totally off on my own porny thought tangent as soon as you mentioned them, on something like, "I guess shapeshifters WOULD need special condoms! They'd have to be extra-stretchy to accomodate shifting during sex... and maybe extra-large... or in funny shaped! Like forked! Ouch!"

I still can't get over how small the title is on the front. The eye is inevitably drawn to other things.

I will let you read that and tell me about it, because I tend to have a Lot of Issues with how romances try to deal with class. They usually fail, and rob-from-the-rich-give-to-the-poor is a particular annoyance....

Not that I haven't liked variations of it. All Through the Night had a formal charity to manage that!

I think I'm under the influence of that book cover. I was reading "how romances try to deal with ass." God knows what will come out of my mouth in clASS today.

I don't exactly mind that they're super-rich -- I just don't like the fact that authors rarely deal with the consequences of that. The characters are nice middle-class people who could buy and sell me. Or whatever. And freqently the markers of Niceness are so totally inappropriate to their purported wealth -- being good to widows and orphans is a virtue, yes, but when you can buy the parish, it is not sufficient social responsibility!

I had a rant in pocketgarden about this.

If I graduate and do not start up pocketgarden again, kick me. I think it would be good to start again.

Funny, I was just reading Sufi Rapper, about a Congolese kid in France who grew up doing small time hustle stuff like picking pockets- making $15,000 francs a day! It took me a second to realize after clicking the link that it was fiction! :P

Also: When my dad tried to give me "the talk" about safe sex, he told me he was going to buy me a condo... :P
