Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (NYT, requires registration). I absolutely have to see this movie. Animation plus film noir plus that hazy, black and white Metropolis feel plus nostalgia sci-fi!

I actually didn't know about all this buzz stuff with the technology and the computer animation -- I just remember seeing the preview and being absolutely bowled over by the shadowy hazy colors and the sheer gorgeousness of it. And the retro ^_^.

Oh, I know!! I saw the preview in the movie theatre, when I saw The Perfect Score a few weeks back. That movie, btw, I hated, but Sky Captain looked so amazingly cool. Third on my list of movies I want to see this year, right under Kill Bill: Volume 2 and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

I think I saw it from a distance, on one of those little TVs in the theater playing previews. And by the time the retro-font "Sky Captain" blazed across the screen, I was totally hooked.

I think it's at the top of my list right now, but that's probably because the Entertainment Weekly summer movie issue hasn't come out yet ;). Oh, this and The Incredibles! Yay Pixar!
