Hino Matsuri - Vampire Knight, vol. 05-07 + ch. 36-38

OMG! OMG! OMG! KANAME IS YUKI'S BROTHER!
YUKI IS A VAMPIRE! OMG! She does not get to shoot anyone, but she SUCKS KANAME'S BLOOD in a sexy and incestous manner, and that is good enough for me!
OMG! OMG!
For the less interesting bits: what the heck is going on with Senri and Rido and who is the long-haired vampire girl (Rima?) and who is Ruka? Is Rido Kaname and Yuki's father's brother? Who turned into a monster or something and is now possessing someone named Senri? And why are there three separate characters with four-letter names starting with R? Especially when there are now four male characters with wild black hair (Kaname, Kaname's dad, Rido, and Rido-in-Senri)!
Now that that is out of the way: OMG! Yuki! Vampire! Incestuous love for her pure-blooded older brother which is considered normal in pure-blood vampire society! OMG! Yuki! Having blood-drenched visions! And then she NEARLY STRANGLES ZERO!
And she is wild-haired and wild-eyed and goes to see Zero, who threatens to shoot her through the door!
Also, there is stuff going on with Zero's Evil Twin, but I can't quite figure out what. On the other hand, I am glad that inhuman cannibal fetii are not solely the province of Yuki Kaori! Oh manga, I love you SO MUCH.
Only in manga could the reveal of an Evil Twin be so suddenly and effectively overshadowed. Because! Yuki! Vampire! AWESOME! Now all we need is her sucking Zero's blood and it will be this giant sucky thing and it will be made of win and Zero can hold a gun to her head and not shoot it because he can't!
In conclusion: fetuses! (very minor, unspecific, and not plot-spoilery spoiler that nevertheless made my day)

Tue, Apr. 22nd, 2008 11:55 am (UTC)I'd started thinking, "Could Kaname be Yuki's brother?" and every time I was convinced, I'd think, "Nah, he seems way too sexually into her." I should have known better. Oh, manga.

Tue, Apr. 22nd, 2008 12:13 pm (UTC)My reactions mostly come down to me yelling 'Of course... it all makes sense now!'
ie. 'Of course he has become the thing he most despises!'
'Of course he has an evil identical twin!'
'Of course pure-bloods don't have any incest taboos!' - although this one may be explained by my read the asoiaf series? There's taboo and mostly-acceptable incest everywhere in those books.
