Ha, you were all fooled by my poll!

Instead of not posting on kdramas, I left them off the list entirely because I am going to post about them no matter what! The (relative) quiet of the past few days was only brought about by nearly 6+ hours of figure skating saved up, plus programming homework. But now I'm back on track and mainlining again.

First, the stuff I didn't like.

If I never have to watch another "two women fight over one man" thing again, it will be too soon. I particularly hate that Eom I-forgot-his-name is portrayed as nice and trying to accommodate his insane wife, and really, none of this is his fault because he's been working for the divorce. Bah, I say. What-the-freaking-ever. If he's still not divorced, it's not Dal Ja's fault he's asking women out.

But more so, I absolutely detest the portrayal of the wife, who is shown to be manipulative, passive-aggressive, and pretty much insane.

The only reason I have not metaphorically thrown this show against a wall is the other female friendships, particularly the one between Dal Ja and Wee Seon Joo, which I very much like. So... minus a lot of points for the entire Mrs. Eom subplot, but at least there are other non-evil women on the show.

I also have qualms about Dal Ja's new boss, particularly how she's the only not-super-skinny woman on the show. At least she's not a complete monster, as shown by her grudging acceptance of Dal Ja and pronunciation of Dal Ja's name. But yes, enough with the sizism please.

Along those lines, I know how weight gain subjectively feels, no matter how you look, but I still roll my eyes at "fat" Dal Ja.

The good: I adore Wee Seon Joo and how she's developing as a character. Yes, it's the whole "icy woman must soften up" thing, but on the other hand, I like that she is mean and not good at emotional demonstrativeness and that one of the things thawing her out is Dal Ja's friendship.

I love Dal Ja's relationship with her mother and grandmother as well, and I like the snarking between the mother and the grandmother.

And Tae Bong's family completely cracked me up.

I also very much like how the men on this show are allowed to be vulnerable. I think that's actually why I'm not interested in Representative Eom; he is vulnerable in a way, but really, he's just boring. Tae Bong and Sae Do are more interesting, and I like that both are in love with women who don't seem to be reciprocating. That and I am completely amused by how Tae Bong is the "spare tire." It's very nice to see the lack of alpha bastards!

Also, I just keep squeeing because Tae Bong is so cute! I am still not sure how he compares to Coffee Prince's Han Kyul, but right now, awwwwwww! I love how he doesn't even really try to disguise his affection for Dal Ja, and he's just so cute when he does the little shuffly smiley thing! Also, six years younger, yay! Alas, we haven't really had gratuitous shots of scantily clad Tae Bong, but given that this is a kdrama, I anticipate getting some at least.

I shouldn't find someone giving a woman money so she will be his girlfriend cute, but it so is when Tae Bong does it! Well, of course it's because he's just returning her money and it's so cute! I also may have melted a little at how his face lifted when Dal Ja said she maybe missed him.

Um, yes. I continue to be a complete sucker for cute guys in kdramas.

But they are so cute and sweet!

In conclusion: only in kdramas would a key romantic moment be undermined by constipation.

Yeah, usually they're just annoying stalker people. Except for Goong, where the other girl is actually the only main character I like(heroine is OK, but mostly a caricature. Her chasing the hero not only made sense, but their relationship made more sense than the OTP's. Of course, I despise the bastard hero of Goong so much I could almost acceptthe girl's turning lesbian and running off together...would serve him right.

(After Goong, I never again stuck through a drama I didn't like, determined to understand why it was so loved.)
