So apparently "You" is pronounced like the English "you." I'm now curious why they transliterated it as "you" (which I pronounce as "yoh") instead of "yuu" or "yu."

Why I Keep a Book Log, Reason #34598: even after rereading my previous entries on Cantarella to figure out exactly what happened, I discovered I had completely forgotten that Lucrezia is pregnant (!) and that Chiaro has lost his right arm (!!!!!).

I'm still a little baffled by how I managed to forget the second, but I figured all the stuff about arm loss as the new eye loss was about Cesare and his evil hand!

Now that I've read a volume of Godchild and a volume of Cantarella back-to-back, I get why Mely was talking about Cantarella's historical accuracy.

I'm also very pleased that Higuri manages to be much less misogynistic! Still delighted about how much story Lucrezia gets, even though it is centered on romance and motherhood, and I love that she and Sancia seem to be becoming tentative friends. I very much like that Lucrezia's story being on romance and motherhood is because of the societal limitations at the time; even though Lucrezia's protests about political marriages largely seem to be about love and romance, there's a sense that she just hates not having control of her life, period, and being reduced to a bride and a mother.

Um. Also, I am now a big fan of Alfonso. Unreciprocated incestous love and eye loss for the win?

Did we know he lost an eye before?! And if so, how did I forget that?!

If not, how did I not manage to guess about the eye loss, considering his tell-tale hairstyle? Possibly I was distracted by the evil hands and arm loss and crystal wings of EVIL.

And Cesare now has a long, flowing ponytail! He did a lot of political stuff as well, but really, what I care about comes down to long flowing ponytail, designating Volpe as Michelotto (the heartbreak!), the disturbing near-rape of Lucrezia, and his love of Chiaro now turned to love-hate.

Chiaro has teamed up with Machiavelli, awesome!

OH! Cameo of Michaelangelo for the win!

I love that Cesare demanded the actual body of the baby as proof and wasn't merely satisfied by bloody cloth. I doubly love that he lets the baby live so he can have another Borgia pawn and so he can use the baby as a bargaining chip with Lucrezia.

But most of all, I really love that Sancia is becoming a great character. I was hesitant about her at first, particularly given the whole "fling at any guy" thing and how I thought Higuri might be contrasting that with the virginal Lucrezia, but they're actually just two sides of the same coin, forced into the same roles and reacting differently. And Sancia sleeps around because she has hidden angst! Sancia as an angsty baroque pearl! Awesome.

In conclusion: There totally needs to be Sancia/Lucrezia femslash.

How could I forget Gackt! (Which unfortunately I always pronounce in my head as gack-t, even though I know it should be gakuto. I can't seem to train myself out of it.)
