I have to say, I am incredibly amused that the tragic terminal illness in this drama affects not a beautiful, wastingly-thin heroine, but to the grandma. I love the grandma so much, including how she yells at Han Kyul all the time.
I have also now been entirely won over by Han Kyul and Eun Chan. The angstiness of Han Sung and Yoo Ju's relationship has largely passed by, and OMG. The cute! It kills! Han Kyul in particular! I love that while Han Kyul and Eun Chan do the standard bantering, for them, it actually sounds like they like each other. And while Han Kyul can be overbearing at times, I also love the goofy little smile he gets on his face when he sees her.
Also, I find it very interesting that she confesses to him while she's still pretending to be a guy! I also really like that the show hasn't gone much into the "ewwww, gay cooties" territory; Han Kyul is disconcerted, but it feels more like a "disturbed to have to rethink my own sexuality" rather than "EW GROSS." And I very much like that his reaction is to say that they should have a brotherly bond, as opposed to pushing Eun Chan away entirely. I can't remember how this trope is normally handled in other gender-bending scenarios, but usually the declarations of love and whatnot seem to happen post-reveal? At least it does in the romance novels I've read.
And! Waffle Guy has secret angst! How cute! I can't believe even Min Yeong has grown on me; he is such a doofus, but in a cute way. And I love that he tries to look out for Eun Chan, despite his complete inability to do so. And! They are all so cute when Eun Chan quits!
Despite my dread of love triangles, I find Eun Chan and Han Sung unbearably cute as well. And I do like Han Sung and Yoo Ju a lot; I like that strange balance of trust and fear that they're both trying to navigate, I like that she's the one afraid of commitment, I like that they are both jealous and whatnot, but that they actually talk about it. Granted, not seriously, but there has been an amazing lack of accusations.
But the latest plot development has me squirming! Han Sung! Do not make me dislike you for active cheating! Hopefully the next episode will have him and Yoo Ju actually sitting down and having a good long talk, because they really need one.
I should probably have more intelligent things to say, but I cannot think of anything because I am DEAD OF CUTE! *squees and makes flaily hand motions*
