Wow. This manga continues to push all my buttons, one of which is apparently two people who only have each other, against the entire world. Other things it manages to squeeze in: trios of DOOM consisting of two guys and a girl, a la every CLAMP trio ever; angels as biological weapons; icy female anti-hero; reincarnation; and endless rounds in which either Machika loses Rain or Rain loses Machika.

That said, the writing really needs to be tighter (see above re: Machika losing Rain and Rain losing Machika. My id loves it; the rest of me rolls my eyes at the plot tugging), and I wish the entire subplot with icy female anti-hero and reincarnation should be way creepier than it is. Icy female anti-hero's sense of humor truly puzzles me at times.
