There's a good Dawn fic out there called Umad Learns Sumerian that's quietly charming, informative, and a lovely little insight on Dawn. [ETA: fixed link. Yes, I'm stupid]

Gakked from Anneth: First real kiss: Um. Some drunken encounter. Not too proud of this one.
First job: Tutoring grammar.
First screen name: Lt. Noin, back in the GWing fandom days.
First self-purchased album: Wow, I don't even remember. I think it was Les Mis.
First funeral: My grandfather on my dad's side. I don't remember much, except it was noisy and strange and Buddhist.
First pets: Curiosity and Squeaky Clean, two white mice I got from one of those street fairs. I loved them very, very much.
First piercing: ears, on my 15th birthday.
First true love: The boy. Hi boy!
First big trip: Er, technically, when I was one month old, moving from Ithaca to Ft. Collins, CO. Honestly, I don't even remember when I started flying around.
Last big car ride: two years ago, on a spring break road trip from Princeton to Florida. Very fun.
Last good cry: Last week, what with the worrying and the being depressed and all.
Last movie seen: At the theater: Elf, which was surprisingly good and funny and heartwarming. Last movie seen anywhere, TTT EE.
Last beverage drunk: The inch of cider left in my cup from last night, about five minutes ago.
Last food consumed: A turkey avocado sandwich, a few minutes ago.
Last phone call: From my mom, again, from a few minutes ago.
Last TV show watched: In real time, Angel. On my computer, three eps. of Alias last night. Almost caught up now!
Last shoes worn: my beat up black Nine West boots. I love them to pieces. They look like it too.
Last CD played: Nipper's Christmas Songs. Shhhh.
Last item bought: my daily mint mocha.
Last soda drunk: Er. I don't know. I don't drink soda really. I guess it was probably one of those carbonated juice things.
Last ice cream eaten: vanilla gelato, from dinner on Saturday. Yummy!
Last shirt worn: gray, long sleeved sweater, with pretty beading.

And shamelessly stolen from [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_: Delurking day! Actually, I don't even know if I have any lurkers on my LJ! But anyway, whoever reads, pop in and do a completely random survey made up by wisteria... leave em in the comments! Go forth!

Shame the fic's in a protected entry, i like good Dawn fic. (Which reminds me, actually. If you've read my recent LJ, i'm trying to figure out what to ask for for [livejournal.com profile] btvs_santa and for people who don't wanna write smut, any fic that fleshes out Dawn as a character, esp. with the Scrappy Gang of "Lessons" would be fab.)

I'm still working on my paper (it's gonna be a late night) but i like the survey and will be filling it out at some later date and posting it on my own LJ. (Also, i really like the idea of directly addressing any potential lurkers saying "hey, come out, fill this out.")

How'd you get in? You're on her friendslist, silly. :)

Since you recommended it, i'll bookmark "Rheanna's Vivere" to check out at some later date.

I think Connor gets less fic than Dawn, but i'm more interested in her than in him so maybe i just see more of her (plus there's much more canon of Dawn interacting with people, so it's much easier to jump off from somewhere, whereas Connor is a big loner, plus kinda unstable and thus difficult to write). I remember back in the day a lot of people (okay, it may in fact have only been a small group of people, but it stuck in my brain) were writing Dawn/Connor (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=malisita&itemid=127347) and i was really intrigued. Summer stories have never really appealled to me as a genre, but i love all the post-"Chosen" stuff (as a genre).

I tend to not so much lurk as just procrastinate my ass off on friendsfriends so i often leave comments titled "got here via /friendsfriends" since i like knowing where people find me and feel i should extend the same courtesy to other people. I'm not intimidated to leave comments on anyone, though this may be related to being so used to a relatively equal playing field with "authority figures."

Check out your UserInfo page. Or [livejournal.com profile] anneth's. You have each other friended.

I think i identify with Dawn more plus find her more sympathetic, and don't mind reading about her issues whereas Connor's issues creep me out.

Oh there are definitely times when i barely have time to keep up with my own LJ list (and when i am so very glad for filters, especially Sundays when i have loads of work and drabbles fill the page) but then there are times like tonight when my work feels doable enough that i spend far too much time not doing work.

Thinking perhaps [livejournal.com profile] anneth recc'd it in a locked entry and you copied the wrong URL into this entry?

Am I a lurker here? I can't remember if I've commented or not. But we're practically neighbors offline, and we have Sark in common, so I feel at least some connection...

1. What name do you want me to call you?

J or JC

2. Which fandom(s) are you involved in?

Too many to list... Alias, Angel, Buffy, popslash, 24, West Wing, Without a Trace, XMen, X-Files, etc

3. Imagine I'm a genie. Rub my belly and tell me your three wishes.

*rubs your belly*

Hm, world peace (and not in the Jasmine sense), a nonviolent revolution that ended the reign of multinational corporations, and clean technology to clean up the environmental destruction we humans have wreaked on the planet.

4. If you could spend an hour with any famous person, who would it be and what would you do?

Questions like this are so hard! How about Audre Lorde, and sit at her feet and just listen and absorb.

5. If you could spend an hour with me, what would we do?

Have a beverage of some sort and good conversations.

6. If you read fanfic, what's your favorite story?

There's no way I could narrow it down to one story.

7. What's your favorite traditional Thanksgiving dish?

I have an unnatural nostalgia for the cranberry stuff that comes out of the can in a cylinder.

8. What's the best insult you've ever heard?

Hard to say. "Go fuck a pizza" from when I was 13 still cracks me up.

9. Recommend to me one or more of the following:

a. a nail polish shade - I'm a fan of anything glittery and/or purple

b. a cool website - http://www.visualthesaurus.com/online/index.html

c. an alcoholic beverage - anything with Malibu Coconut Rum, if you like coconut. And I have a serious fondness for Wild Turkey, if you want something strong.

10. Convince me to visit your hometown.

Um. There's a few people I'm fond of who still live there, the library system is cool, and it's near DC, but that's about it... I rarely visit, so I'm probably not the best advertisement.

11. If you could get any gift in the world, what would it be?

We're back to the world peace, etc list. If it had to be for me personally and money were no object, I'd want my house paid off. On a more realistic level, books pretty much always make me happy.

12. What's the best thing about the holiday season? What's the worst thing about it?

I pretend the holiday season doesn't exist. The best is I get time off work, and the worst is the (*^*&% Xmas music which is inescapable.

13. Which popular song makes you want to pull a "28 Days Later" on the rest of the world?

There's not really any song which makes me want to kill off the planet.

14. If you could give advice to your 13-year-old self, what would it be?

Hang in there, it does get better.

15. Give a compliment to each of the following people:

a. me ;)

I enjoy reading your lj.

b. someone else on LJ

[livejournal.com profile] jmtorres writes good fic.

c. a real-life friend

[livejournal.com profile] nadyalec is a good friend who is patient with my hiding under rocks.

d. a famous person

Audre Lorde wrote the most amazing stuff. Her article on the erotic in everyday life had a huge impact on me.

Glad you liked the visual thesaurus. Never too much fun! :)

I don't think it's dumb to not be able to place the reference for 28 Days Later. I only knew it because we saw a preview for it at X2 or Matrix Reloaded. I actually almost asked what the question meant, cuz not having seen it, I'm not really sure what pulling a 28 Days Later would look like...
