Watch me scrabble to finish writing up manga and books!

Watanuki is still missing his right eye, thanks to an encounter with a vengeful spider. Unfortunately, he's just found out that it's now a hot item in the demon world. Some spider spirit has kidnapped the fox spirit who helped him earlier; alas, it's been so long since I read the last volume that I have completely forgotten how in the world Watanuki and fox spirit Zashiki something met.

I continue to adore the art of this series, and I love the solution that CLAMP has come up with re: Domeki's right eye and the sharing thereof.

I wish I could say more.

Um... the little spirits on hoverboards were incredibly cute as well, and this series always makes me want to read up on Japanese mythology and folklore.

This series is one of the reasons I decided to split up my manga recs into "new series" and "continuing series" this year. Because (at least as far as the official translations go) this year Tsubasa's been kind of dull and Bleach is in the interminable Soul Society arc and have only just hit the part where Rukia gets to be something besides a damsel in distress, at least in flashbacks, but XXXholic, which started off poorly, has really hit its stride and deserves more notice.

I think next year I may have to divide up recs as well, but since I didn't read all that much last year, I'm not as worried.

I read over 200 volumes of manga this year and only 51 last year! Ok, 51 still sounds like a lot, but it isn't given how fast they go.

I just want to know more about Watanuki and why the spirit world keeps being so interested in him.

BTW, I don't think the girl spirit is a fox spirit. The translation notes for vol. 4 called the zashiki-warashi spirit a house guardian type of spirit from Honshu.
