SO. MUCH. LOVE!

EEEEEEEEE!!!!! This is so excellent! I started squeeing at the teaser in which Claire tells her dad about her abilities and he actually tells her that he knew! And the squee just didn't stop until the "To Be Continued..."

I love love love that people on this show actually do practical things at times; instead of Angst and Drama, you get Audrey telling Matt that sometimes people mess up, and that he loves his wife a lot, and it's not stupid to try and work past that. Also, the scene in which she thinks he's cute had me giggling because it was so cute.

Also... Haitian guy speaks! I can't figure out accents, but I suppose that was Haitian. But... now I want to know why someone said he was mute, and why he seems to have two powers (memory erasing and power blocking), unless somehow the two are related?

Claire's relationship with her dad continues to be one of my favorite things about the show, and I'm really looking forward to her finding out about him erasing minds. I felt so bad for her when Zach yelled at her. And I loved her interaction with Peter, and how for once, Peter is looked at as a hero by someone else.

Speaking of Peter, OMG!!!!! I can't believe I didn't think about him being the radioactive bomb guy, considering his power! That is so cool! Of course, I am going to be on pins and needles during the hiatus because Peter cannot die and I'm sorry I ever said the Petrelli brothers were boring! They are not! I'm wondering what Nathan will end up doing; taking Peter and flying him way above the atmosphere? It looked like he was going to be in it till the end.

And... Eden! Wah! Sigh, another dead woman. But... it was very cool, and I like that she actually thought about what would happen and tried to prevent Sylar from getting a very destructive power. Of course, we don't actually get a shot of her being dead, so really, anything could have happened. I'm hoping that she's still alive and managed to kill Sylar, because that would be cool and she was getting really interesting.

Isaac and Hiro and Ando finally meet! Isaac paints without drugs! He is starting to get more interesting now that he's actually sober. Also, um, he is very cute when he's not sweaty and grungy.

Mohinder, alas, continues to have no plot, but I forgive him on the account of his super-hotness.

And Niki! Doing something practical and trying to get herself arrested and away from DL and Micah! I really love that both DL and Micah accept that Jessica is a complete other person and don't really blame Niki for the harm that Jessica tried to do, instead of there being stupid angst that comes out of misunderstandings. I also really just like the relationship among the three of them, and I'm hoping that they'll still get to interact a lot. One of the cool things about the show so far is that it actually looks at married relationships. I'm hoping they don't go the Joss way and break up every single relationship for angst value, because sometimes it is good to see people actually trying to make it work, like real life. So far, interesting married couples include DL and Niki, Nathan and Heidi, and Matt and wife of Matt. Ok, the last isn't that interesting and is in fact downright boring, but I have hopes given the conversation Matt and Audrey had.

I am probably forgetting a ton of things to squee about, so I will just put a generalized EEEEEEEEE!!!! out there for good measure.

ETA: I can't believe I forgot to mention Hiro fighting a DINOSAUR with a SWORD! It totally reminded me of Saiyuki Gaiden and Tenpou, hee hee, except Hiro isn't hot like Tenpou (but he is immensely cute and I love him). I love how he wants to find the sword.

And... next episode is Jan. 22?! Argh! Cannot wait!

But... now I want to know why someone said he was mute

Well, Eden said "if he could talk," right? So it's possible he does talk, but only to Mr. Bennett, or it's possible he's never even talked to Mr. Bennett and is silent for, er, reasons of his own. Let us pray they do not involve a voodoo cult of any kind.

Not-So-Mute, Still Possibly Haitian Guy

There's always the chance that Eden just didn't known enough about him. Did anyone else say ... oh, someone else did say he was Haitian. I think.

But... now I want to know why someone said he was mute, and why he seems to have two powers (memory erasing and power blocking), unless somehow the two are related?

Well, in a way they're related - they're both about blocking. One blocks other powers, one blocks memories - except I seem to remember Mr. Bennett saying, about the quarterback, something like, "Take it all. Burn him out," which makes me think he removes the memories (did he have to take all of Zach's memories of Claire? Back to 6th grade? So sad!). He's like the anti-power.

Still not sure, though, why Sylar could break the glass when Eden was there but not when Mr. Bennett was. Not sure about that at all.

Because Mr. Bennett never talked with Sylar without Haitian guy lurking somewhere just out of sight. I know it's not exactly canon, but if they could convince Sylar that his powers didn't work a couple of times, maybe he stopped trying.

More interesting, though, is why Eden's power didn't work on him.

Yeah, I sort of thought that he was in a special power-containment room, though I don't know how they would have built such a thing (and get one to radiation guy, quick!).

I'm still thinking about the Haitian guy talking to Claire, which was so good it made me say, "That was so fucking cool!" over and over and over again.

I will be so sad if Claire can't regain her friendship with Zach but those were some cool paranoia scenes.

And Hiro's reaction to seeing the painting: "I better not step on any bugs." Oh to die of the cuteness!

is that a reference to anything else, the not stepping on bugs thing? it sounded like a reference. my immediate thought was "i didn't think hiro was a jain!" (indian religious group that is against killing, even of bugs) and then i was just confused yet cuted.

It's a reference to a famous Ray Bradbury story: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Sound_of_Thunder

It is -- Ray Bradbury's short story, "A Sound of Thunder."

It's about a concern that runs hunting trips into the past for people to hunt dinosaurs. Everything is very carefully marked out and managed so that there will be no effect on the time stream.

Until, of course, someone steps off the path and onto a butterfly...

The Bradbury story was also referenced in a classic Simpsons episode when Homer travels back to the dinosaur era and recalls Grandpa's advice, "If you ever travel back in time, don't step on anything." Homer of course steps on a lot of things and changes the future.

I read the actor who plays The Haitian is... actually a Haitian. Jack Coleman (Bennet) gave an interview on TV Guide online, and in that interview, he said they call him on the set, "The Haitian Sensation that's sweeping the nation." Heh.

I'm pretty sure Eden is dead-dead. Apparently the actress wanted out of the contract. (I don't know why. It's such a COOL SHOW! And her character was getting a nice meaty storyline, too. Woe.)

I really want Niki/D.L./Micah to start meeting other characters soon, because I think Niki/Jessica thing has been kind of played out. But I gotta admit, that shot of the bullet wheezing through D.L.'s head was very cool.

It's all in their heads

The powers are psionic (and Sylar groks that). The Haitian's (one) power is to block thoughts.
