To be quite frank, I don't remember much of vol. 6, and I'm not very tempted to reread. The business arc that's been going on bores me to death. But luckily, things get more exciting in vol. 7!
Spoilers for vols. 6-7
First of all: Gah! Ohba killed L!
And finally, we get into the extremely convoluted plan of Light's that resulted in the very boring period of memory lost. I find that while I can't say I like Light as a person (really, who can?), he is definitely much more interesting when he's out to rule the world via random killings than when he's attempting to catch a criminal.
But I'm still so sad about L, especially the way he just topples over. Kira won =(. It seems wrong somehow.
The timeskip is nifty, and then, finally! I get to meet Mello and Near, whom I've heard so much about (yes,
telophase, I mean you).
I am still figuring out the new situation, now that L is gone. So far, Near doesn't interest me as much as L did, largely because he's actually got some social skills. And he looks entirely too angelic. Mello, uh. Mello looks like he wears velvet while lounging on his throne and cackling to himself while he pushes a button and executes several henchmen, a la Jabba the Hutt or Dr. Evil.
I am so glad the business arc is over. It was so boring. Now looking forward to vol. 8!
