Huh, very interesting.

I still have no idea what really happened, but I liked the idea that the prophecy was ultimately a self-serving story created by the emperor whose name I have already forgotten but has a stupid little goatee that I keep wanting to shave off. That was too long to hyphenate, so you can just imagine the hyphens in there.

I am also extremely irked that Kaguya ends up marrying Seeyu and having happy children, largely because I read their relationship as more sibling-esque than anything else. Also, Bambi/Kaguya OTPexclamationpoint!

I wish we knew more of what happened to Gold, and I mourned the death of Giant Robot Chicken.

I'm not sure if I'd rec the series to everyone, given that I still have no idea what happened with the plot, the politics, or the world-building, but I really liked certain aspects, including the Giant Robot Chicken, the clone/robot/living weapon Gold, Bambi, and the Mad Prince Who Cannot Touch.

I also loved that the prophecy and Girl of Destiny thing turned out to be bogus. (I think.)

I didn't mind Seeyu and Kaguya getting together, although I too have a weakness for Bambi/Kaguya, because I liked the whole "life goes on after the grand climax and apocalypse" thing.

But I think my very favorite part was the dramatic appearance of first the Giant Robot Chicken Foot, then the entire Giant Robot Chicken, followed by the escape during which some nameless flunky exclaims, "I see a flying object... It's... A giant flying chicken!"

I think it was the kid part that did me in, just because I am so sick of happily married couples with children indicating a happy ending and "all is right with the world" in romance novels. Ugh.

OMG I totally forgot that part with the Giant Robot Chicken. That was AWESOME.

At some early point I could no longer tell which was Gold and which was Gold's progenitor, and so ended up completely confused about everything regarding both of them.

Yes! It is much like my confusion with Orochimaru, and leads to the conclusion that people in manga just shouldn't look alike, ever. Even if they are twins. Or have distinctly different clothes and hairstyles and hopefully speech mannerisms as well.
