Joan of Arcadia 1x18 Requiem for a Third Grade Ashtray
Sat, Oct. 2nd, 2004 12:33 amSquee, loved this episode! And for once, it didn't make me cry, but it did make me rather deliriously happy.
I wasn't really following on all the subplots, which didn't feel all that connected to Joan's plot, until GothGod (who is enormously cute and has lots of chemistry with Joan, and dude, does wanting to pair God up make it a very, very special hell?) pulled out her ashtray and said that thing on renewing and regeneration. And everything clicked into place and made sense -- Joan running errands, Will delivering a baby, Kevin in the hospital wanting his nerves to regenerate, even Grace preparing for her Bat Mitzvah. Speaking of Grace, loved her scene with Joan on the stairs. That was great. And I love her dad too.
I might have been a little slow in connecting the dots, but it just worked out so perfectly that I was willing to overlook the enlightening experience of helping someone give birth. If I were in a TV show, I would take classes on how to help someone do it, because the chances are so big that it will happen.
Anyway. I also may have squeed a little over the cuteness of Luke in a bathrobe sans glasses.
And, er, did I mention the chemistry between GothGod and Joan? GothGod is very snarky ("And the first mission you decide not to do is get wheat germ?"), as is Joan ("What, so you're here to show me your new nose ring?"), and it had me having lots of fun. And I love the moment when he reaches in and pulls out her ashtray, which I may have mentioned.
Maybe by next week I will be caught up enough to watch the new episode!
