Whoo! Lauren and Sark team up!
Um. That's about my only comment. I think I'm getting a bit tired of this show, which does not bode well. Too much emotional exposition in the beginning, to a handy psychiatrist at that. Too much Sydney and Vaughn whining.
And I'm still mad at JJ Abrams for taking the easy way out and making Lauren not just on the other side, but thoroughly evil on the level of outsmarting Sark. And kissing him. Because now of course, Sydney and Vaughn are in no way in the moral wrong and there are no obstacles between them and their soulmatey true love! *rolls eyes* No, he's got to make it as black and white as possible.
But wow, Melissa George looks gooood ^_^. And in that black leather-ish suit too, yum. AND with Sark! Two British blondes, oh joy!
And totally saw that "You're saying Sydney is actually your daughter?" coming from a mile away.

Mon, Feb. 16th, 2004 04:45 pm (UTC)Of course Lauren now that she is evil is incredibly smart and powerful and sexually voracious 'cause that's what evil does... well at least we got to see more of Sark. And Quentin!
I can't believe though that they dragged out Sloane's big "secret" for the whole hour and then revealed it in the promo for the next episode!

Tue, Feb. 17th, 2004 05:23 am (UTC)I figured out the Sloan as Sid's Dad ages ago...and yep, saw it coming. But did they really need to put it in the promo?
I think the only reason I'm watching Alias right now is I'm enjoying the bad guys - Sloan, Sark, Lauren and Quentin Tarantino. Lauren and Sark looked fantastic together - great on-screen chemistry - although I pretty much knew that would happen, since Lauren is the new femme fatale and they always put her with Sark. Quentin was actually good in this episode, though. They are the only characters who aren't totally predictable at the moment. I'm losing more and more interest in Sid and Vaughn. And once again Jack had very little to do. Getting tempted to jump over to Arrested Development again.

Tue, Feb. 17th, 2004 06:55 am (UTC)Wow, Lauren and Sark just burned through the screen ^_^. I need to icon soon. I liked Quentin as well -- thought he was funny instead of excessively wordy like he was in the first ep. Syd and Vaughn piss me off to no end. And I'm soooo sick of the emotional exposition! Who does that?! Watching Firefly right now throws them into relief as well -- Wash's blowup about Mal in his marriage as opposed to Sydney's endless talking with a psychiatrist. I dunno.

Tue, Feb. 17th, 2004 05:46 pm (UTC)Yep, big time. I'm beginning to think Melissa George and whoever plays Sark are actors worth paying attention to.
They blow Garner and whoever plays Vaughn off the screen, every time. If I continue to watch - I'm watching for them, their storyline is less predictable actually. You know Sid and Vaughn will end up together, won't die, and will continue to play spies in love. But you don't know if Lauren and Sark will get together, if she'll fall for Sark or if she's somewhat in love with Vaughn, if they will kill her or Sark and if so, how.

Exactly. There's something to be said for "showing" not "telling". The fact that I was a fan of La Femme Nikita (Nikita and Michael were far more interesting and expressive than Sid and Vaughn) and have seen Firefly DVD's, doesn't help. I keep wanting Firefly back. Good story. Unpredictable twists. Complicated characters. Instead I get predictable shows like Alias with lots of gimmicks.

Wed, Feb. 18th, 2004 10:19 am (UTC)Ditto for Sark. I love the fact that I can't tell what they're going to do -- I wasn't sure if Sark would be angry because she killed his father, or what! And the whole power dynamic between them fascinates me right now.
Very much agree with you about showing and not telling. Because hey, really, nothing I've seen on screen convinces me that Sydney and Vaughn were meant for each other! I started watching La Femme Nikita (didn't like Michael quite as much, but really loved Nikita) but stopped because the plots weren't quite as good. But wow, I loved the incredible greyness of Section One.
I miss Firefly =(. I've only got one more DVD to go before it's over, and I'm still kind of mourning so many character arcs that haven't been able to develop. I adored the characters on Firefly, every one of them, and I really wanted to see what Joss was going to do with them, sigh. Have interesting visions of Simon going down a sort of Wesley-path and Jayne maybe being a real hero sometime.
