WEEVIL! Weevil is back! Yay! Also, Weevil shows that he is smart and he is a good detective person, but that he still has no control over his temper. It was probably to be expected, but I still felt very bad for him. And I love Keith for giving Weevil a chance and for his very sad "I need a job too" thing.

I've also really missed the weekly mysteries that didn't necessarily have to do with the big arc; this season feels a lot more like S1 used to. I continue to be irked with the portrayal of the college feminists as extreme, bra-burning, blah blah blah insert every stereotype of feminists here. I mean, given Veronica's own rape and how that was handled in S1, I doubt that the show is saying that they're wrong, but I'm just very sick of portrayals of feminists in the media like that.

I'm guessing that Piz's new radio show will end up having something to do with the mystery later on.

The Logan and Veronica thing I'm still a little meh on, mostly just because I keep waiting for Logan to do something incredibly stupid and cruel. So far, not yet, which is good! Also, hey, we're back in S1 with Veronica stalking Troy as well! Though I'm still on the fence re: the relationship, I do love that Veronica isn't all sappy, despite wanting to spend time with Logan. I like that all her trust issues are still rampant and raging.

On the other hand, I really could have lived without the incredibly anvilicious "I had a fit of craziness and lost the only person I will ever love WOE because of my own issues!"

I'm also looking forward to seeing what the dean has to do with the rape; he seems like an old frat boy or something. Also, Veronica butts heads with school administration! Ahhhh, the good old days.

And yay! Weevil has a job! I know, it's totally irrational that I adore Weevil and I am constantly on the meh-to-downright-blech scale for Logan, given that one is a convicted criminal and one is not. And yet... Weevil!

Re: VM on feminists and rape activists -- yeah. I'm hoping that will change as we get more information, as so many early-in-the-season things do.

I know, it's totally irrational that I adore Weevil and I am constantly on the meh-to-downright-blech scale for Logan, given that one is a convicted criminal and one is not. And yet... Weevil!

It's -- it's not that irrational --

Okay, maybe it is. But . . . Weevil!

They really annoy me too, because it seems like the show is echoing the obnoxious old sexist line, which is that it's OK for women to hold feminist beliefs, but the moment they actually call themselves feminist or take collective rather than individual action, they are shrill, hard, and wrong.

I keep thinking, "Show! You are better than this!"

Yes. :\

Someone on my flist wondered if the climax of the arc will involve Veronica nearly raped, especially after Claire was apparently specifically targeted. I guess it could be they've kept Veronica's reactions impersonal because things are going to get even more personal, but I hope not.

Definitely best episode so far, especially since I was expecting Weevil in the next episode. They got the "lampoon" writers down scarily perfect. Having worked for a college paper that had a lampoon page they dressed exactly right and totally acted like those guys. It was kind of scary.

Here from a friendsfriends list. Weevil coming back was definitely the highlight and I felt bad for him too after doing so well in the first detective job. It was great to see him interact with Keith although sad at the end. I also agree about the portrayal of the college feminists, its disappointing they're resorting to stereotypes. Also I'm with you on Logan/Veronica and the fun of seeing Veronica clash with authority. And more yay for Weevil! He definitely adds some spark to the show.

Couldn't agree more with your analysis. Loathed the "feminist" thing, which indicates a primitive and incoherent understanding of a really very simple idea (men and women are equal). I hope it ends up going somewhere.

I had the same reaction to the Logan and Veronica interaction, too. It was heavy-handed and kind of exhausting, all the way around. I adore Logan, but I'm not particularly interested in watching Veronica learn Valuable Lessons About Trust. This show's above that.
