Angel 4x21 Peace Out
Wed, Apr. 30th, 2003 11:19 pm(*^&*&*(^ to the person who made me miss the first fifteen minutes. Hate them. So much.
Loved the episode though!
I really have nothing coherent to say. But Connor finally makes sense to me now. I think I actually get him, which is nice, because I've spent all year just completely not really understanding his character. And I was so sad when he talked about how everything in his life had been built on lies, and at least he liked Jasmine's. I especially like this because I felt like I've gotten Dawn from the very beginning, from Real Me on. Dawn is the whiny, bratty, sometimes startlingly mature teen girl who's still in me.
Absolutely love Gunn again. Yay! Especially loved how his kicking the door finally paid off. And the "To Serve Man" reference, which scared the hell out of me as a little kid!! Who wrote that, anyway? I keep thinking Bruce Coville for some reason.
Still love Wes.
Kind of got Jasmine too. I liked having it all come down to choice at the end.
And I am spoiled for the finale, but seeing Lilah at the end? Awesome! Didn't know she was going to be in this episode! Woohoo, Lilah's back and looking better than ever.
ETA: Did anyone else notice how much Cordy in the church looked like Lilah in Salvage?
I think fandom is starting to make me grumpy, with the vid plagiarism (which is a genuinely grumpy issue) and the general discontent about Buffy. Am kind of tired of reading all sorts of bitter diatribes against Spike, against Buffy, against the characters who have said stuff against Buffy, etc. I understand the bitching (well, okay, not all of it). But I do understand the need to vent in LJ and the nice feeling of finding other people who feel like you. But in general, having lots of grumpy people around tends to make me grumpy, so I will sit and enjoy the sun. Well, not now, because it's down. But soon. Besides, classes are ending!

Fandom is a tricky thing
Thu, May. 1st, 2003 05:59 am (UTC)But the ME/Joss verse got me on the internet and talking to other fans for the first time in my life. And it's a mixed bag. You can get these eloquent posts by people who really make you appreciate things in the shows you didn't see yourself. That part I really like. But I have a thin skin for bitca-ing and whining and bashing. It's like Chinese water torture in the water droplets were made of rocks.
I step very carefully around what posts I read and don't read for that reason. I'm not ashamed to say I try to read the stuff that will make me feel good and avoid the stuff that doesn't. Sometimes I have to avoid the whole internet fandom thing for days or weeks to get past some of the feelings evoked by other fans. Which is tricky, if you have to run a fandom community yourself.
So just wanted to say I can relate!

Thanks for saying that
Thu, May. 1st, 2003 09:48 am (UTC)Stepping away from the board like everyone needs to do from time to time is difficult for me, just because I'm expected to be there at the very least to move posts around and make sure the board is up and running. Last Fall, when Angel went into hiatus for two months, I kind of got depressed with so little 'Angel' talk and wanted to get away, and luckily I had someone, d'Herblay, to take over for a couple weeks.
Most of the time, though, I'm very pleased with the board and I visit it incessantly. I'm so glad there are so many fun and interesting people there.
