Was seriously considering not getting out of bed today until the maintenance guy knocked. Then I had to get out and get dressed. Hopefully he will fix my light sometime.

Good news: second interview at the bookstore tomorrow morning. Got my roses. Got my DVDs (Chicago and Two Towers).

Bad news: rather pessimistic about the bookstore job... two of the roses' root balls were really disturbed during shipping and completely came apart as I was transplanting. So now one of them is having trouble standing up straight. Already fed them transplanting food, but does anyone have more advice on how to get them more at home? They looked so sad with all the roots dangling out =(.

In a rather bleak mood now. I don't think I function well by myself, with only me for company, despite being an introvert and rather shy about meeting new people.

*hugs* I know zilch about roses, but I'm sure you'll do well by them. I'm sorry you're feeling down but maybe you'll meet some nice people at that bookstore. It sounds like a good place to hang out at :)

Thanks ^_^. Hopefully will get the job... sigh. Feeling a bit lost because I don't really know anyone my age here to hang out with, and as of now, not quite sure how to meet anyone besides the boy!

Well, the SF board meet is coming up so at least you'll have people to talk media and fandom stuff with :) I'm sorry there's nobody to talk to. The last time I felt that lost was probably first year of university. Nobody to talk to, don't know how to approach anyone. It wasn't fun.

What about your neighbours? Or any relatives in the area? I remember you saying you had some aunties in SF.

Yeah, very happy about the board meet ^_^. It feels a lot like first year of college. Well, I feel a little less transplanted, as freshman year came with moving from Taiwan to America, but a little lonelier -- no one my age. The aunties are wonderful, but I can't exactly call them up and make them watch movies with me at 11pm ;).

Do you have any cousins your age? I find cousins can be good for all manner of things: playing pool, going to the driving range, watching PoftC, finally :)

I think I'd get pretty lonely away from my family. As much as they annoy me at times, I like having them around. But maybe this will be a good opportunity for you to meet people entirely different from anyone you've ever known before! I don't suppose you'd strike up conversation with random strangers at the library?

Oh.. oops. The aunties aren't really my aunts.. they're my mom's friends. So, no real relatives =(. And their kids are going off back to college now, sigh. It was a lot more fun when my sister was here.

I'm absolutely awful about approching random people.. always scared they'll think I'm too odd, you know? I've always had a hard time meeting new people, and now that there's no real social structure that *makes* me, ugh. Well, when Stanford starts, I am piggybacking with the boy's student status and making him do things like take tai chi with me. Hopefully will meet people like that.

Good idea, piggybacking. Sometimes I wish I could stay a student forever. You got it exactly that the "social structure that makes you" is something comforting and steady. When people ask you, you can say "I'm a student. I go to blah university." Which is why I'm gonna try to join a church fellowship, cuz even though I don't know most of these people, at least we have something in common, you know?

As for the too odd thing... Most people who know me already think I'm too odd, so I guess people who didn't know me would definitely think so. But in your case I'm sure they'd get over any oddness and appreciate the quirkiness as a valuable character trait ;) We can hope, right?

Oh I very much miss having the school structure to fall back on, sigh. It's this weird limbo life, where I figure other people meet people at their jobs, I guess? Cept don't have one of those things yet... =(. Fellowship sounds good, what with things in common. Guh. I need to find something like a local movie club. Or anime club.. but that's probably the university again ;).

You know that keychain that says "I'm not weird, I'm gifted!"? My sister gave me one and she told me it should say: I'm not gifted, I'm weird! ;). Ah, loving families indeed. And I like quirky people.. one just has to sort of dig them out of the woodworks as it were, I find.

What exactly do they look like? Size etc? You cane plastic bag them... but let me do some research since I don't usually do mail order. I might call the company too since they probably answer this question a lot?

Aww... and I've been thinking how much I'd like to meet you if I weren't incurably shy and on the wrong coast.

More minis: Black Jade, Apricot Twist and Yantai. They've been transplanted in their pots as of now, so I'm just hoping for the best. Might call them up later.

*hugs* I'd love to meet you too.. just find it quite ironic that I "met" you AFTER I moved from the East Coast to the west! Well, hopefully will meet some more AtPO people come September.
