I got so caught up in the whole deluge of comments that I forgot to post about this!

Anyhow, there was a library sale last weekend.

Need I say more?

I got:
- RuThAnne Lum McCunn, Thousand Pieces of Gold (Asian-American fiction)
- Lizzie Simon, Detour: My Bipolar Road Trip in 4-D
- Andrew J. Nathan and Perry Link, eds., The Tiananmen Papers
- Simon Singh, Fermat's Enigma (I liked his The Code Book a lot)
- Oliver Sacks, The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales
- Olivia Judson, Dr. Tatiana's Sex Advice to All Creation (Bugs having sex on the cover! Also, good reviews)
- Kim Wong Keltner, The Dim Sum of All Things (Asian-American chick lit)

All for $8!

And if that weren't enough, I went back to the used bookstore to get vols. 2-5 of Planet Ladder. They also had vol. 1 of Cross there, but I decided that I really didn't need my own copy to flip through, although I was really tempted, just so I could pull it out and show it to random visitors, thereby ensuring that no one would come over to see me ever again.

The best of all was finding the very OOP Four Shojo Stories in the corner of a random comic book store, still going for cover price. Still not cheap, but pretty good compared the the $60 it's going for online! Yay classic shoujo!

I am ashamed to say I haven't read Fermat's Enigma yet, when I really should be owning it.

If I had the $$$ to blow, I would have such a big popular math library. As it stands, there are still some books on my shelf to read...except I need to finish reading The Cambridge Illustrated History of China *wry g* before it's due back. It's a little disconcerting to see a dynasty summarized in mere paragraphs. Expected, but disconcerting!

If you're willing to part with it, or at least loan it, I'd like that a lot.

If you ever want a pop math walkthrough and it is within my realm of understanding, just give me a ring. Although Fermat is going to be over my head; I only barely, barely scratched the surface of number theory, ever. (In terms of mathy details.)

Dr. Tatiana is pretty fun, and I don't remember any glaring errors.

I have Fermat's Enigma but can't remember whether I've actually read it. Maybe this is a sign that I should read it now.

No pictures, and lots more than just bugs.

The Dim Sum of All Things should be interesting reading right now, since it is all about racism and exoticising minorities and so forth. However, it is, alas, not terribly good. Mostly I liked the parts about food. On the other hand, I almost never like chick lit, so I may not be the best judge.

I used to work with Kim Wong Keltner.

I thrilled to her snarkily-worded emails and post-it notes. I can assure you that when she writes about the place where her central character works, she's speaking from personal experience. (: I enjoyed the hell out of the book, and am very curious to hear what you make of it.
