Sigh. I was trying to figure out what I did wrong to add an additional stitch in my branching lacy scarf, but I must have done something really wonky. So I decided to frog a few rows and start from there. Alas, the yarn I am using is really, really hard to frog and I ended up breaking it. Am too tired to pick through it and figure out where I am, so have lost a good 50 some rows of work. Boooo.

I have also finished my first tank top!

I forgot that cotton doesn't stretch half as much as nylon ribbon, so the top is way too small for me, even with the lace-up back. Siiigh. Will try to give it to a friend. And the middle row of yarn overs is a little off because of a dumb mistake I made. Oh well. Making another version in pale yellow, one size larger with a higher needle size too, just so that the fabric drapes and breathes a little more. Yes, yes, obviously I should be unlazy and gauge.

And I have started my first crochet project! Pretty lace lap blanket for my sister's new apartment, hopefully will finish way before Thanksgiving, when I visit her.

Neat!

One reason I prefer crochet to knitting these days is that it's so much more tolerant of frogging. On the other hand, there's no way to salvage a mistake by laddering down, which one can sometimes do with knitting if the pattern isn't too elaborate.

Lovely crochet project! I'm used to trying pattern stitches that look squarish when I'm not making doilies, but I really like your little arches. Were it a bit longer and not destined to be a lap blanket, that'd make a pretty scarf.

*sniff!* I'm so proud!! You're making garments already! With shaping and yo's and everything! And that's a really pretty piece of crochet.

My hands, they hurt! but at least I can live vicariously.

Knitting mentor? I blush!

Alas, my hands combined with busy-ness at work have conspired against knitting comments. But I always like reading your knitting posts. ^_^

Wow! Your tank looks fantastic! I have yet to try knitting a garment because I still kind of stuck on the novelty of felting, but I am starting to get bitten by the lace "bug" . I agree that the lap blanket would make a lovely scarf. I keep trying to get into crocheting, but its disconcertingly slow when I think of how easy knitting has become. Well, anywho, I hope all is well (I admit that I am not really caught up on anything other than posts containing pictures of knitting or yarn...).

ps. in case you don't know, this is Paris from P-ton.

Is that the "branching out" from Knitty? I made that in red mohair (http://www.livejournal.com/users/robling_t/109816.html#cutid1) and I was living in terror of making a mistake the whole while. As it turned out, though, I got through it without any mishaps, but mostly by counting my stitches out pretty damn obsessively as I went and tinKing back then instead of trying to frog later...
