I don't see oyceter arguing that mainstream American culture is not diverse; she only asked that we focus on a different topic in this space, since discussions of the diversity of whiteness have overshadowed this topic elsewhere. Her post discusses the issue of minority cultures being represented in fiction by writers from dominant cultures.
Complaining that so-called 'white culture' does not respect 'your' culture is the pot calling the kettle black.
Luckily, she neither says nor implies this. :)
