oyceter: Pea pod and peas with text "peas please" (peas)

Tragedy has struck! I went to the farmer's market a little late today, and they were out of peas! OUT! Of PEAS!

I annoy everyone with my use of capslock because.. peas! None! *sniffs*

To make up for it, I bought more fruit than I can possibly eat in a month (yay Flavor King pluots! And Flavor Queen, and these beautiful golden peaches that weren't rosy at all, and plums, and sugar plums!). And heirloom tomatoes (soon to be made into caprese salad) and baby Yukon Golds, soon to be broiled with some of the flavored olive oil my sister got me from Italy and rosemary.

Amazingly, going to the farmer's market is making me cook, because all those fresh vegetables just sit and beckon. Maybe next week I'll get some artichokes... I haven't had artichoke in a long time, and I love them.

But I am still sad about the lack of peas.

Caprese salad is one of the very best things in my world right now. I have fresh tomatoes and fresh basil growing right out the front door, and so all I have to do is stock fresh mozzarella.

I was going to make some peach dessert for this week's dinner guests, but I didn't have the energy, and now I don't know what I'm going to do with all those peaches. Meep.

I'm going out to cut the basil in just a minute.

I snack on peaches uncooked, too, but I bought a lot of peaches! I'm not sure they're going to hold up if I don't do something to them. Well, I'll think of something. Perhaps a sauce for andouille....

I had a pluot for the first time ever today. It was delicious. Plum flavor, apricot texture: the best of both worlds.

While I cannot understand the joy of peas since it is out of the realm of my experince, I would like to share that I have been exposed to the most awesome recipe for that peanut sauce you put on cold noodles! It was a little spicy and normally can't stand spicy things... but it was so good!!! I was all upset about the spiciness yet I couldn't stop myself from getting 4 to 5 helpings. It was terrible. I think I drank like 5 to six glasses of water. Such delicous torture.... so naturally I got the recipe so I could do this to myself at home.

I am going to the farmer's market tomorrow, for the first time in my life. I will look for peas. How do you cook them, again?

Also, what else is really great fresh that can be eaten raw or is simple to prepare?
