I like clothes!

[livejournal.com profile] oracne wrote about all her nifty clothes, which is now inspiring me to go on and on and on about mine!

(I like clothes. I am, in fact, incredibly, incredibly jealous of [livejournal.com profile] chi_zu and [livejournal.com profile] jonquil and [livejournal.com profile] fresne, all of whom seem to have incredibly nifty clothes or know quite a bit about clothes.)

(I apologize in advance for the excess exclamation points. But... clothes!!)

  1. My happy swirly fifties dress that I found at a vintage store! It is light pink with black patterns and has crinolines! Actual crinolines (crinoline?)! So cool. And the skirt is cut with so much fabric that you can lay it out flat on the floor, and it swirls up gorgeously when I twirl. I need to actually, you know, wear it somewhere someday.

  2. My hats! I have the hats that I just got for my birthday (cute orange forties hat with bow on side, cute black sailor-ish hat), plus a ginormous yellow sun hat that I will probably never wear but like anyway, the grey bonnet I got at the Dickens Faire (need to decorate it), and assorted other hats. I really want a top hat (so I can wear it and pretend to be Death), one of those funny little old-fashioned hats with a wee bit of veil in the front to look mysterious, a little bright red pillbox hat, just for the heck of it, and of course, a fedora. Oh, oh, and a bowler hat! Oh, and a cavalier hat with a giant feather so I can be all dashing and musketeer-like!

  3. My kimono! I got it at Norwescon and it is beautiful and grey and snowy and such a winter kimono! And vintage! I shall say no more because it is a kimono and I feel that speaks for itself.

  4. My yukata! I got it when I did homestay in Kanazawa, and it is pretty and dark blue with pink flowers, and so cute and summery! I even wore it several time (once to a winter formal, completely out of season, heh heh). And I have the cutest geta with embroidered pink sakura thong things and a little pink sakura bag and tabi too! It's just so cool because wearing it makes you carry yourself completely differently, and then kneeling to sit down totally makes sense.

  5. My chipao! Alas, I can no longer fit it, but I can still dream. It is bright red (as is proper and lucky) with gold embroidered plum blossoms on it, with gold piping on the sides, and I am afraid I look horribly like Chun-Li from Street Fighter if I wear it and my hair in two buns.

  6. My really super goth medieval dress! Ok, so it's cut incredibly low, but it has the swoopy hangy sleeves of medieval-dress-dom! I like wearing it just so I can flap the sleeves about.

  7. My skirts with Indian embroidery! They have gorgeous beaded embroidery on metallic thread all over, and the skirts themselves are made of this bright fuschia but with a layer of translucent material (I temporarily forgot the English word for it because I keep thinking of the Chinese one, sigh sigh) so that they aren't bright fuschia but instead a sort of duller reddish-pink (well, one is). The other is just absolutely beautiful because the material on top is black and the fuchsia shows through, and it's all swirly and has embroidery and guh I love it to pieces.

  8. My very cute Chinese peasant shirts! One of them has bells on it instead of buttons ^_^. Plus I have fun sort of capri pants made of black brocade with butterflies and I'm sure I look totally dorky when I wear the entire ensemble, but I like it anyway.

  9. My black Express shirt with the same swoopy neckline that Buffy's red shirt in OMWF during her last song has, but with floopy butterfly sleeves instead. It is so goth and so floppy, and I love it.

  10. My blue shirt wth this sort of spiderweb type stringy thing all across the low-cut neckline, so it only sort of looks scandalous and is instead very cool and webby (and the sleeves are slightly belled, which is also fun).

  11. My very cool crushed red velvet top with these little sleeves that look just like the sleeves on the shirt Willow wears in Tabula Rasa. I love the redness of it. It's just so beautifully dark red without ever edging into maroon. I need a red, red dress.

  12. My three white skirts, all of which are delightfully summery and swish nicely around my legs when I walk around, so I get a horribly goofy grin when I'm walking by myself because I have swishy skirts!

  13. My pink flip-flops with tropical flowers on them that I can wear anywear because they almost look formal enough to not be flip flops, except they are pink and have tropical flowers!

  14. My happy stretchy jeans with lace cut outs at the leg to make the leg flare, which are so fun and peek-a-boo like, plus I can wear them everyday and feel happy.

  15. My sarongs! They are bright and happy and tropical and have really large hibiscuses (hibisci? hibiscus? those tropical flowers?) on them. Also, they are wrap-arounds, so it doesn't matter how much I eat! Also, did I mention the bright and happy and tropical bit?

  16. My Hawaiian shirts! Do I really need to explain this? They are Hawaiian shirts! They make me smile.

Other clothes that make me happy include: socks with frogs, striped socks, bright orange ugly socks, pink clothes (shut up, I enjoy being girly), lacy swishy skirts, jeans that flare just so below the knee, pinstripes, gingham, polka dots in conjunction with fifties-type cuts, beads, embroidery, flowers, butterflies (did I mention the girly?), nice fabrics (silk, suede, cotton, merino, cashmere, etc.), fun and unexpected cuts, boatnecks, v-necks, floopy sleeves, fuzziness, nappiness, softness, circle skirts, giant floppy turtlenecks, coats with hoods, trenchcoats (oh I so need one, with fedora, of course), pretty much anything period or vintage or traditional, and of course, happy colors.

In conclusion, it is a miracle that I don't end up a walking eyesore every day!

Yay! I love clothes! I like these peeks into people's closets. I will do one of my own when I find my braces (I may have left them at work).

Ooh. Ooh on everything, but especially this.

You need a fedora. Everyone needs a fedora. And a trench coat.
