Wow, ok, Point Pleasant was really bad. Really, really bad. The people are all together too shiny, you can see conflicts coming from a mile away, nothing is remotely scary, and it's just way too glossy to be a show about the devil's daughter.

I feel bad that Angela ([livejournal.com profile] fannishly) had to leave early b/c she wasn't feeling good, though, and that watching the first bits cut into our conversation too. And I'm still not used to just how wonderful it is having someone around that I can easily hang out with and talk about fannish things and life and shopping and frivolous things like lipstick as well! Come to think of it, it's been a very, very long time since I've had good friends close by -- I've had a lot long distance, but much as I love phone and IM conversations with them and seeing [livejournal.com profile] sophia_helix every so often, it's so hard to do that and not have daily contact. I shall now stop, because my journal (aside from the whinging) has now become a giant advertisement to friend Angela. Which is true! Because she's cool and nice and omg it is so wonderful to hang out with someone!

And I am doing that meme in which people can sign up to have good things said about them by me, because it's been so wonderfully cheering to read compliments on myself, and because it's not hard to notice that a good portion of my FL seems pretty down this time of year. And I want to pass around the cheerful feeling, because I've relied so much on the collective good will of so many people lately. Although I will also say that I adore all the people on my FL, even if you don't respond to this ^_^.

I hear Point Pleasant gets better, from some reviews, after the first two episodes. Marti was saying in some interview that about four or five episodes in, she started to give it more of a Twin Peaks sort of feel, and that could be good. For what it was, I thought it was enjoyable enough. Though for now it seems to be, plotwise, a complete rip-off of Carnivale, only retarded and set in the middle of a frothy teen soap opera! I'll keep watching for a bit, though.

hee hee dare I ask to be on the meme? My Ego is already very powerful. If it gets fed anymore it may transend this reality and leave me alone. Then i'd feel sad. But It'd still be worth it! ^_^
