Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Although I am slightly confused, because there are Christmas decorations up everywhere now, so the more primeval part of my brain is having a hard time remembering it's still November.

I am thankful for good food, good books (I just finished [livejournal.com profile] sartorias's Crown Duel), good friends who feel close though they mostly live far away (that's you guys!), my family, being gainfully employed with health insurance, my relatively healthy body, the fact that my depression seems to have gone into remission, cute rats, the boy for being the boy and putting up with me, and numerous other things like public libraries, used bookstores, Good Eats, tv on DVD, falling leaves, roses blooming in Stanford Mall, the washer/dryer in my apartment, Livejournal for helping me get through depressed times and happy times, satsuma season, California weather, finding connections to home in the strangest places, and that I am alive and can enjoy all of this.

I consciously avoid looking at the decorations, and I'm very grateful our town doesn't do them until after. Just got back from being blown about with Cole on the walk, admiring the Falls, and bemusedly looking at my bushes at the park.. still budding out, silly things.

And I was very grateful to be back in the warm house, and it does smells lovely, although I'm mainly thankful I only have to do this once a year. I am a lousy cook, and approach doing big meals with a very sincere combination or anticipation, and dread. I usually handle the dishwashing part, where it's unlikely I'll actually food poisen anyone.

Hope the rest of your day is very good, and thanks for this. It's good to remember those things. There are lists, but mainly it's people, friends. *hugs*

Oh thanks. In spite of my whinging it was really fine, and ben enjoyed the food so all good. And we were closed today, so very nice to get the extra day off.

Mainly, I was just missing the family. But, we're looking forward to Christmas. Kris just bought her first house (much much closer now whoohoo!) and we are all going to pile in. She's even suggested I bring the dogs. Really. I'm still headspun from that one. Goinks. Smell the cauliflower scorching.. there goes another pot, must scoot. ^__^
