OMG THE GAY!

And it's femslashy!! Joy! This is maybe the second bit of anime I've seen with femslash.

I haven't watched anime in so long that I've forgotten just how weird some of it is (I shall take over the world by using the DNA of famous dead people to clone them!).

The first scene of Yomiko's apartment (ok, the mountains of books in her apartment) had me ogling in jealousy.

Me: *ogle*
The Boy: *ogle*
Me: Ooooooo, can I have her apartment?
The Boy: No.

The Boy only watched the first ep with me (he's in Dallas now and I watched the rest without him), and I swear, he had more fun watching me ogle at Yomiko's book habits than watching the anime itself.

I want Yomiko's lifestyle.

I really like the opening sequence and the sixties-ish music.

The opening scene with the White House is from Independence Day, hee!

I am also extremely amused that the monk from Tales of Monkey is now an evil bad guy who has somehow gotten his hands on Monkey's iron staff.

I was also extremely amused by Yomiko dragging her little suitcase everywhere ^_^. Apart from the book-ness, I was sort of surprised at how much I didn't quite sympathize with her. I think it's because she's firmly in the anime tradition of the cute and innocent heroine who believes in the goodness of everyone.

On the other hand, I really started ogling when Miss Deep/Nancy entered the scene. Very, very cool. Especially the entire framing and slo-mo when she aims a gun, and oh, I'm not distracted by eye-candy at all, really.

And if I didn't already mention it: OMG THE GAY!

Although I am afraid the ending sort of went over my head... was the little sister yet another clone? Or the same Nancy (the first) who didn't remember because of brain damage? I thought it was the second, but am not sure.

I keep forgetting I can't watch the rats or play with LJ while watching anime, as opposed to other TV. My Japanese, unfortunately, is still not at the level in which I can just pick up what's going on by listening absent-mindedly and not reading the subtitles.

Apparently, I will never be able to listen to Ode to Joy again without thinking of Evangelion.

ETA: YOmiko, not YUmiko. Stupid me.

I think the Nancy at the end is the second Nancy, just different because of brain damage.
