[personal profile] kouredios has started a DW/LJ friending meme (DW | LJ)!

I am not sure if most people in my dwircle just don't post that much anymore, if people have moved on to Tumblr or Twitter or elsewhere, or what, but I have been feeling a bit out of touch with fandom for a few years now, and it is nice to pop back in and randomly find people! Hullo people! Hopefully this will make me post more!

There will probably be subscribing and access changing over the next few months as I work out the new dwircle.

Also, er, since many people wrote that they don't like lots of bashing or negativity in their intros, I feel I should give fair warning that I tend to be fairly critical. I like to think I still squee and have fun and don't rain on people's parades, but there is a fair amount of poking and analysis and critique FWIW. Also also, as always, feel free to subscribe, unsubscribe, grant access, or take away access at any time for any reason.

I was doing Tumblr for a few months, and it is really awkward for having discussions. Some of the Saiyuki fans were actually posting some fairly interesting ideas, but the discussions got awfully messy to follow in a very short time.

Twitter just doesn't do anything for me at all.

This is totally non-pressurey, but it'd be lovely if you do wind up feeling like posting more, simply because your posts are awesome. *^^*

I do love Tumblr, but it confuses the hell out of me that some people use it as a substitute for DW or similar platforms. It's good for shiny pictures! It's utterly abysmal for discussion! And it means so many fewer people are talking these days, which makes me sad.

Though I didn't really mean to use a responding icon that implied Roy was giving the kitten a sexy look. (The boy can't help himself, I guess. He doesn't have that many kinds of looks.)

I tend to be fairly critical.

Critical can be interesting and enjoyable to read, though!

Critical is good! There's a difference between criticism and unrelenting negativity. Poking and analysis is a good and interesting thing.

Seconding! To me relentless negativity is watching six seasons of a show you hated from episode 2 on. Poking and critique is an expression of fannish instinct.

In which I am apparently too old for the internet, I am looking at the friending meme with great suspicion. ("You mean you want me to follow someone I don't even know? Hsssss.")

It does seem a little quieter around these parts. I'm on Tumblr because pictures! But I do really miss getting life-snippets and in-depth analyses and way more squee. I have trouble following discussions on Tumblr! And I heart nested comment threads!

I think I feel about relentless positivity the way some people feel about the reverse (although I guess I'd also draw a line between relentless negativity and criticism, although even there...a lot of times I feel like the hidden subtext of the relentless positivity culture is "don't be friends with depressed people").

Anyway, I subscribed to you for the analysis! \o/
