So much stuff going on in Glitch right now! I should probably make an icon of Squeegle (my character) at some point, since I keep posting about it...
Anyway, I finally caved and bought a subscription and credits. If Sims Social and offline moving has taught me nothing else, it has shown that I am a billion times more likely to shell out money for pretty furnishings and decorations than I am for clothes. For some reason, this personal consistency soothes me.
(I also go "Ooo, I like this song, what is it?" a lot to CB, who frequently says it is the tenth time I have said that I both like the song and don't know it. This consistency also makes me happy.)
And I am just happy with all the changes the developers are making! It's very cool that they seem to be looking at exactly how people's use of items in Glitch has been changing and making things to accommodate that—the new Notes Pole is what brought this to mind. I also love that previously impractical objects and skills are now far more practical and desirable, because really, while I liked making fuel cells before, it made pretty little sense to do so when I couldn't find street projects to throw blocks at. But oh man, my woodworking machine uses so many of the suckers!
I am also amused by how formerly useful objects in Glitch are becoming decorative items. You can interact with them, unlike in Sims Social, but it's funny how many of us seem to want to do things like set our tables and fill our kitchens with food and have books lying around everywhere. (Seriously, Glitch, let us craft books! I don't even care what they're used for, I just want books everywhere. How else is it supposed to feel homey?)
And of course, everything is done in that weird Glitch way, so not only can you have your Danish modern furniture, you can also have a room papered in bacon with little vegetable and fruit tables and chairs! Or a sandwich bed!
Despite now having credits and a subscription, I haven't decorated much yet. I don't know exactly what I want yet, so I am mostly ogling everyone else's decor. That said, I am totally hatching a ton of piglets and chicks and not feeding them to grow them up so they can sit around my house looking cute!
ETA: Also, even though I was the one who was most excited when all the updates came out, CB is actually the one who has been totally hooked. I feel a bit guilty about this, since he had just kicked his Minecraft addiction, but it was kind of nice to have someone who is extremely into games validate my newest pet toy. Especially when everything else I've liked so far is stuff like Sims Social and Tiny Tower.

Fri, Jun. 8th, 2012 11:05 pm (UTC)I really need to get back into Glitch! I am curious about all the new stuff, but aside from learning the new skills and taking a brief look around my new house, I really haven't done anything.

Fri, Jun. 8th, 2012 11:06 pm (UTC)Ahahaha, I will warn you that it will consume many, many hours. I think I didn't log in after the big housing reset until a few weeks later just because I was pretty sure I couldn't just go in for half an hour or so.

Fri, Jun. 8th, 2012 11:21 pm (UTC)I was thinking "What's a Note Pole?" then saw the update on the glitch twitter feed and literally gasped before running to log in and check it out. And now of course I have to go mine and smelt and craft and there goes a chunk of my morning :)

Fri, Jun. 8th, 2012 11:23 pm (UTC)But yes! I love how there is now an item for this random in-game custom of leaving notes by people's houses! Well, okay, there were the apartment bulletin boards before (omg still need to explore the basements) but still.

Sat, Jun. 9th, 2012 12:36 am (UTC)Oh, and I sure did love making books in Minecraft, which is one of those things that tends to utterly consume me for a week at a time and leave me alone for the next six months.

Sat, Jun. 9th, 2012 12:44 am (UTC)I am kind of sad I couldn't get into Minecraft; the 3D first person movement makes me nauseous. Okay, also I am shallow and like the graphics in Glitch better, though I get the pixellated appeal of Minecraft.
