Apparently I am a highly seasonal person, and summer is for fruits and vegetables and salads and chopping. I did cook some during the summer (largely because my sister made me), but it always feels a bit like a chore though.

Now that the weather's changed, I've been wanting to spend time in the kitchen again, and today I started some things for craft circle. The kitchen smells like pork and ginger and scallion, which is to say, it smells proper again.

Ahahaha, I walked into my aunt's house last week for dinner and she starts to apologize about the way that the house "smells weird" because they'd been frying lumpia, and I was like, "What are you talking about, it smells fantastic!"

Which is to say, er, pork and ginger and scallion, MMMMM.

This time of year always prompts me in the direction of casseroles and long-simmering things, which is both a blessing and a curse. Yay for being able to leave things alone to cook! Boo for having to keep kids interested in something else for the duration of the cooking time!

MMMMMMM yes! I especially love the long-simmering things bit of cooking for winter, as well as the heat from the kitchen!

Yay seasonal! I have a sense that being seasonal means you're invested in or responsive to your environment to a larger extent than someone who's not. Maybe?

The one way I can think of that I'm seasonal is in sartorial color choices. Summer means white and winter means black. So yeah, since the weather turned I'm pretty much wearing black all the time!

Yeah, I suspect it does involve being more invested/responsive, which has its bad points as well (OMG Seasonal Affective Disorder I HATE YOU SO MUCH).

You're still just a remedial-level atevi, though. :) Your kitchen sounds delicious! Mine smells of squash soup, also highly appropriate to the season.

Mmmmmmm soup! Mine will probably smell like pumpkin tomorrow for pie making, yays!
