Current planning ideas: I want to see if there is a convenient space around the hotel that is easily accessible and not a restaurant, since a) splitting the check between 20+ people gives me a headache, b) it's hard to talk like that, and c) maybe some people going to the meet do not want to buy dinner? Any suggestions re: good spaces would be awesome. If someone has a room and is willing to host, that would also be awesome!

Also, once there is a date/time, I want to make flyers and pass them out! I will probably be fine making the flyers and putting them on tables, but I am terrible at approaching people I do not already know, so may put out a call for volunteers to help spread the word, both online and at the con.

I won't be able to make it, sadly, because that's the weekend we're celebrating my mom's birthday.

There are also two starbucks within a block, one north at van ness & california, and one south at van ness & bush.

I am in the area-ish, in that, I am south about eight to ten hours' by car :\ If it weren't for the hotel rates, I could probably afford to take a train up there and actually attend the con, but, hotel rates :P

Oh woes still too far away for regular hanging out! But if you are interested, you are totally welcome to camp out at my place (rachelmanija and yhlee will be here too, so it might be a little crowded, but I think no one has to sleep on the floor). Yes, that would be helpful, thank you! I mean, as long as you think people won't be giant jerks about the POC-only thing, but in general am hoping they will be good.

Hi! I think this is great that you're organizing a POC meetup at FogCon! I'm Chinese-American, and I'm writing mostly Asian/Asian-American characters and/or settings. Happy to meet you on your blog!

1) Spreading the word at the con: I'm happy to hand out flyers! I am a little shy, but I'm totally fine with giving strangers a flyer, esp. if I know it's something that would be of interest! Also, I will be speaking on 2 panels (one Friday afternoon & one Saturday morning), and I can mention the POC meet-up to the audience (like maybe 2 other people that show up?). Also, I can mention it at my reading Friday night @ 9:30 pm. You and all your friends are totally welcome to attend!

2) Location suggestions: Sorry, b/c I'm local, I don't have a hotel room. When I was at World Fantasy in San Jose, I joined a late-night POC gathering in the hotel lobby's bar, and we had a blast. I think somewhere public like that would be great because those people who are interested in POC issues can just join, and there's no obligation to buy anything.

Awesome!! (Ahaha, was the World Fantasy one organized by Tempest?) I think I might take up the idea of the hotel bar, especially if we do it Friday night.

Will definitely keep you in the loop and try to set up a good way to notify people and such.
