Last last week's episode was extremely boring, as I am completely uninvested in the Alex/Thom relationship and unhappy about women of color getting refrigerated. Also, Percy and Michael are still boring.
I was also unimpressed with Nikita taking Owen home; I am not particularly interested in more white guys on the show.
On the other hand, starting a potential romance with Nikita chaining the guy to her bed and injuring him is better than anticipated! Ditto the twist on his killing her fiance. I also have zero objections to his being there chained and naked, although I am guessing he sadly won't stay so. Alas, I am not too impressed with Owen's actor either; he's better than Michael or Percy, but that's not saying much. Obviously what should have happened is Nikita chaining and injuring Amanda to her bed, because I would pay A LOT to see or read that.
The plots are also getting better; the training exercise cum interrogation was a good and extremely sadistic twist that makes Division look like the cold-blooded agency the show kept telling us they were but not demonstrating. I also love the twist at the end re: Michael's loyalty despite finding Michael and Percy boring. Although I am finding this Michael-Alex relationship really creepy and disturbing given how it's deliberately echoing Michael/Nikita and their age differences. And yet... still more interesting than Alex/Thom!
And yay more Nikita/Alex backstory! Yay Alex coming back by herself! Double yay for Alex taking on the fight for herself and wanting revenge on Division!
On the minus side, BOOO to gratuitous Nikita undressing in front of Owen.

Fri, Oct. 22nd, 2010 05:56 pm (UTC)In general, I feel like the series has Nikita making mistakes that she wouldn't actually make. Such as when she went to Hong Kong (?) and Michael had to rescue her. Okay, I could buy Michael taking out a guy who was camped out and thus not spotted by Nikita on the way in. But I wouldn't expect her to leave herself vulnerable to people from the cars.

Sat, Oct. 23rd, 2010 07:29 am (UTC)I think Maggie Q's acting makes me believe in Nikita's competence, but the writing, alas, fails her a lot and has her doing things she shouldn't do if she has had as much spy training as we know (me: "Don't do computer stuff in front of Owen! You can't trust him!" Also, leaving the needle within reach seemed silly.
