So my roommate has started watching Glee in the living room. I gave it a chance when it first aired, but despite having awesome guest stars like Kristen Chenoweth and musical numbers, I hate the characters.

However! I still want to see fun musical numbers and singing and dancing!

Does anyone have recs where either I can watch just the musical numbers sans plot or episode recs for episodes I can watch without throwing something at the TV?

I hate basically all plots involving Will Schuester and Finn. I thought the "Single Ladies" episode with Kurt was kind of awesome. I don't hate Rachel as much, but she's not a favorite. I find myself strangely fond of Quinn. Anything non-sporkworthy about the non-white, non-heteronormative, non-abled characters is a big plus. And Sue Sylvester has all my love.

Glee has massive issues and yet I heart it a lot. I'm so in adoration of Kurt and Quinn and so many of the characters. I actually like Emma and Rachel a lot.

Have you seen Wheels? It's complicated, and it has Issues, but I heart it. There's a wheelchair number. I loved that. Er, for obvious reasons.

I know. Every time I'm all 'okay, I'm done' someone starts singing or being awesome and I get sucked back in. Though I missed this week's.

Got you covered: here's the video of all the musical performances in episodes 1-13 and here's 114. They're wmv files because it's easiest in WMM. I have gotten a LOT of mileage out of them because that's my favorite thing about the show so I hope you enjoy :)

Probably your best bet for an episode is Wheels, 109, my favorite one which is all about Artie (and Tina) with bonus Kurt and Sue plots. 103 also has a great Mercedes and Kurt plot but a lot of Will and Finn so I don't know if you'd be interested in that.

Oh, thanks so much for doing this -- I'm gonna snag this as well if that's OK. I have similar relationship to the show Oyce has and being able to just go from one musical number to the next sounds awesome!

Precisly what I've been wanting!

Although I should probably make at least an effort to grit my teeth through the episodses at least once before I wear the WMVs out...

Whichever episode has the diva-off. Kurt gets to sing "Defying Gravity."

That one was really good. It's after the "Single Ladies" one, I remember. And I actually liked the finale-before-hiatus, even though it has some problems, because Rachel and Mercedes seemed to appreciate each other and it felt nice. Even though some of how the plot shook out was annoying as heck.

Sue Sylvestor does Vogue.. It's just as awesome as it sounds. Here's a link to download it if you prefer that to streaming.

Coming out of lurking to say that I feel much the same way about the show and characters. I love musicals, and yet! I also found myself surprised by my liking of Quinn...

It's kind of a relief to hear other people with the same opinion, to be honest. All my friends adore it.
