I hadn't thought of "crab butter" until I saw your comment, but now that you mention it I have heard that phrase! My primary exposure to crab cookery is "plop it in boiling water and kill until dead", so I haven't actually dealt with recipes that feature crab butter. But it does sound vaguely familiar...
