Asian SF/F (not Japan)

Hi! I am lazy and depending on the goodwill of the internet to help with research!

So: tell me about Asian SF/F!

It must be:

• Created in Asia by Asians


• NOT from Japan


• Any medium


• Bonus points if I can get my hands on it (I am in the US and read/understand Mandarin Chinese)


• Extra bonus points for SF/F from and/or about Southeast Asia or South Asia

I have a slightly better sense of SF/F created in Asia and popular in the US, though if you have notes for your specific country, that would also be good! Please note: NOT from Japan.

Legend/4 Gods has been on my list of things to watch since I saw a random poster somewhere! Also, bonus points for being set in a Korean dynasty that isn't Joseon!

Sadly, I heard reviews weren't too great? I dunno, what do you think of it so far?

You've heard bad reviews on Legend? That's weird, as I've only heard it praised to high heaven. As of ep 8, I'd say it's pretty good. *is in love with the wrong character*

I haven't been terribly impressed with the first two episodes, but I look at those as mostly setup. We'll see what we get further in. Also- we totally need to do drama/wuxia night!

Yes! My this week is insane, but after that, I will not have work. But there's Wiscon, and I go home in June... Dunno how your schedule looks?

This week is stupid (yes, the very timespan of 7 days itself). But my weekends are generally open. In theory, I'm supposed to get scaled back hours at the end of this month, but we'll see how that really turns out.
