Gundam 00, ep. 06-11

I am starting to be very impressed with this show! We have had not one, but two, Gundam pilots going bugfuck insane in their Gundams and shedding tears in the cockpit, one blown-up building full of psychic kids trained to be Super Soldiers (I think it is officially called "Super Soldier Institute" or something), and TWO alter-egos/clones/twins.
I have still not recovered from the Allelujah/Hallelujah reveal, particularly as to how it is signified via hair part, when Lockon went to visit some grave and we saw.... HIS TWIN! Or clone! Or clone of a twin! Really, who knows?
The pacifist princess in this series is much less annoying than Relena, as a) her voice actress knows the difference between snotty annoyingness and actual competence and b) she is not a high school student all people of power seem to respect. Plus, you can tell she's more awesome because she has a pink helicopter!
Also, the pilots sail on a pink yacht at some point, but I'm still for the pink helicopter.
I also also sort of love that Psychic Baby Super Soldier Peelis' not-Gundam is hot pink. But then again, I just love Peelis all around. She is made of win.
And apparently there was a previous generation of Gundam Meisters! This bodes well for future episodes, and I'm hoping Felt (pink-haired, continuing the theme) gets a little more development after her reveal. I'm also hoping that Aeo--whatever-whatever founder of Celestial Being will turn up unexpectedly mid-series! Hopefully via suspended animation, clone, or both!
So far, Lockon seems to be the only sane one, but I am certain this will not be the case for much longer, given his Sekrit Evil Twin/Clone.
Oh! I completely forgot Setsuna's tragic backstory with his evil guerilla leader showing up once again! I am irked that evil guerilla leader who goes about training child soldiers to die for God has a pseudo-Arabic name. Also, evil guerilla leader's horrific goatee should be forcibly shaved off him and used as an assault weapon or something. It is hideous.
Marina (pacifist princess -- actually, I don't know if she is pacifist, but I am assuming she will teach Setsuna the importance of peace and love) ends up driving off with him, for reasons slightly less insane than one might think, and then attempts to ask him if we all can't get along, as it has been six years since the genocide in his country by her countrymen. Um. Yeah. Setsuna, like me, thinks she clearly has no idea what he's gone through, and manages to screw up once more by revealing that he is a Gundam Meister!
But! The best part ever was when Tieria's giant Gundam exploded off its outer shell to reveal.... Nadleeh, the Gundam with Red Hair! Words cannot describe how absurd it looks to have flowing red locks shooting out of a Gundam. I nearly died laughing, and then nearly died laughing every single time after that we got a screenshot of it.
In conclusion, I have to say, giving alcohol to a bugfuck insane pilot with multiple personality disorder, psychic super-soldier training, and recent tragic actions involving blowing up a building of kids is a bad idea, even if he did just turn legal age.

Mon, Apr. 28th, 2008 03:50 pm (UTC)I love Soma and her PINK Gundam and her amazingly non-skeevy relationship with her scarred CO Sergei too.
I am still recovering from Nadleeh, the red-haired Gundam. I am told, though I have not verified, that it is a Navajo word meaning transsexual. Very appropriate for Tieria!

The Gundam with hair never gets less entertaining!
