Mmm, I wouldn't call the rest awful exactly. Folie is charming and she has a pet ferret, but the hero is totally unlikable for most of the book, and the plot is ridiculous, even by Kinsale's standards. Yes, more ridiculous than white Hawaiian Victorian ninjas.
