At least they finally managed to kill off one white guy?
Wow, that is such a depressing reaction to have.
The previous episode was so stupid that I have no words. It wasn't just bad in terms of race and gender, it just made no sense on a plot level. Why is Peter trusting this guy over everyone else? One would think that he'd at least stop and ask Hiro questions or something. I was also irritated by Hiro going off and leaving Ando behind again.
Note to writers: it would be nice if at least one character managed to retain something he or she learned in S1.
Monica and Micah hare off for no good reason, Maya trusts Sylar for no good reason, we get yet another POC dead (it's amazing how the only men in refrigerators just happen to be the men of color), another dead woman and yeah. Meh. I have no words for the Claire storyline, as West makes me want to yell DIE DIE DIE HATE ARGH WHYYYYY?
I continue to loathe how he is being set up as the Voice of Reason given that he is a creepy stalker with no sense of personal boundaries and I hate him so much. I also hate Claire grieving and consistently talking about how Noah was right and how she should have obeyed. BLECH.
The Claire/Elle fight was ok, but they should instead team up to defeat their fathers, drive off in a convertible "Me and Dorothy Parker" style, and fight crime.
This episode: The first parts did have me excited, and then they shot Maya and I nearly threw something at the screen until Sylar said to revive her. I think if they had killed her off there, where they had killed off two other POC (Isaac, Simone), I would have... I don't know.
I continue to like Mohinder and to not think he is dumb. I actually think he is playing a lot of people against each other, which is cool. And I think he is smart to not trust Noah or Bob or anyone except himself right now.
Niki and the fire = MADE OF FAIL. I liked the Hawkins-Sanders, damnit.
Hiro not just stopping time so Peter could handily save the day by blowing up the germs = stupid. Granted, Hiro didn't know, but still, I am very tired of how two finales have now been twisted around to be All About Peter.
Also, Hiro, I get you not wanting to kill people. On the other hand, burying them alive for eternity is not really much better on a moral level, and on a practical level, it is rather stupid. I don't think the show will have Adam returning, but I'm just saying.
Should be more touched by Nathan's death, only I am cynical about white guys on this show actually staying dead. Also, again, tired of finales being All About the Petrellis to the extent in which other characters are forcibly shunted off to the side so they can have their drama.
Very not excited about Sylar being back.
Sigh. I am not sure I will be returning when the show does. It is just so frustrating and boring and tiring, and I really do not see anything changing, though I will be working still in the fandom and on

Tue, Dec. 4th, 2007 06:42 pm (UTC)I was annoyed that everyone seems to have forgotten about Caitlyn. Um, hello, she's in a future where the virus happened. So if you eliminate the virus, what does that do to her? How about some angst from the king of emo himself, Peter? What the hell?
Why didn't Hiro and Peter talk *more*? I was afraid they were just going to fight, and then they started talking! Yay! But they didn't finish talking. Gah!
Why did Peter run into the room without first stopping time? Dude, you're worried about what might be happening. So pause the action! Dumbass.
After the previous episode was so bad, I thought about staying away. But this was the mid-season finale, so I tuned in. Maybe *now* I can manage to just put this mess behind me.
Also, yeah, they've killed off too many POC, including two in that room, but I'm sufficiently irritated with Maya I was kind of hoping she'd stay dead.
P.S. I hate West, too. That the show doesn't seem to realize he is a creepy stalker gives me sadface.

Wed, Dec. 5th, 2007 01:21 am (UTC)On the other hand, I loved Hiro actually using his time skippy skills smartly. Except in the last confrontation with Adam, in which he totally should have frozen time, gotten Adam out of the vault with a million deadly viruses, and then had the "Betrayer!" conversation.
Also, I yelled at Adam tons when he talked about Hiro being his inspiration, because yeah, somehow I did not take his Kensei change of heart very seriously.
I know! I was thinking: um, maybe you should find Caitlin first before you eliminate the future she is in?
in which I am ranty! at length! and allcapsy!
Wed, Dec. 5th, 2007 03:30 am (UTC)Also, HIS was the death that got the big face-time slo-mo treatment and we were clearly supposed to feel AWFUL, while Nikki got a KABOOM and that was that.
Maya trusts Sylar for no good reason
I dunno if it's because he's wildly popular or wtf-ever, but I get tired of Sylar being the Indestructible Evil Behind Everything. I liked the show a lot better when it was grey-er (the way Mr Bennett used to be). I never liked Sylar from the first -- HE EATZ BRANEZ! -- and just wish he would go away. Also, it makes Maya look like ten thousand kinds of stupid. Also also, does her power HAVE to be that when she's EMOTIONAL, she KILLS PEOPLE? Could we not have the Hysterical Superwoman horror?
WEST NEEDS TO DIE. HORRIBLY. PAINFUL. AND I WANT TO BE THERE. //xander
The Claire/Elle fight was ok, but they should instead team up to defeat their fathers
DUDE the Elle-seeking-Mr-Bennett dynamic and the "Daddy you're gonna be so proud of me" thing -- why don't the two superpowered young girls realize their fathers are oppressing them? No? OKAY THEN.
I continue to like Mohinder and to not think he is dumb. I actually think he is playing a lot of people against each other, which is cool. And I think he is smart to not trust Noah or Bob or anyone except himself right now.
I KNOW. I LOVE MOHINDER. OKAY MORE ACCURATELY I LOVE THE ACTOR. I loved it that Mohinder was the guy in S1 without a power except he was the one bringing everyone together, and I think he's still a big-picture thinker whereas everyone else just, well, isn't. Unless you count the Petrellis (and I strenuously ignore them whenever they appear). It really annoys me his part got cut down so completely and it also really REALLY annoys me the fanbase keeps screaming about how stupid he is. He's not any more stupid than Peter.
Niki and the fire = MADE OF FAIL
VERY FAIL. Micah is now an orphan? Awesome. One of the things I liked best about S1 was the Micah-DL-Nikki family storyline (well, up until "GO TAKE CARE OF YOUR FAMILY, SUPERPOWER WOMAN, WHILE I DO THIS INSANELY STUPID THING." But I strenuously ignore the S1 finale).
Hiro not just stopping time so Peter could handily save the day by blowing up the germs = stupid
Dude, I just about screamed at my tv set when it became painfully evident yes, the two young white male brothers are going to SAVE THE DAY. AGAIN. Jesus Christ I already saw the S1 finale.
Did Monica (name right?) really have to be the POC Woman In Jep the whole damn time? Why couldn't that have been Micah?
Also, Hiro, I get you not wanting to kill people. On the other hand, burying them alive for eternity is not really much better on a moral level, and on a practical level, it is rather stupid.
Was that their attempt to keep Hiro lovable while getting revenge? If so, FAIL. Have him either be the Hiro we know and love or grey him up. One or the other, show!
tired of finales being All About the Petrellis to the extent in which other characters are forcibly shunted off to the side so they can have their drama
FUCKING WORD is all I have to say to that. Because, REALLY. I got sick of the superpowerful Petrellis and their endless storyline back in S1 and am Not Happy to still see everything revolving around them. Plus, I KNEW Nathan and Peter weren't dead in the S1 finale, so why should I believe Nathan is dead in the S2 finale? Why should I care?
Very not excited about Sylar being back.
They almost lost me for good when Sylar pulled that "I'M BACK" shit. I do NOT CARE. He is NOT INTERESTING. God, the show started out with a huge multi-ethnic cast that yeah, had a lot of awful heinous crap about race and gender, but it also did some things _right_! Where is THAT show? I don't want to watch the Peter/Nathan/Mr Bennet/Elle's dad/Sylar/Matt faceoff.
I am not sure I will be returning when the show does
I'll probably wind up watching at least the opening and maybe the first 2-3 eps, but I'm really cynical about it.
Um. At least Elle and Mohinder were cool?
....dude, I was all "I remember when that girl was called Faith and she used to be brunette."

Sun, Dec. 9th, 2007 07:52 am (UTC)Dude, yeah, I remember when it first came on and I was all "Multi-ethnic genre ensemble storytelling! Salarymen! Hottie Indian guy! Ooh they just subverted the trope of the young black male criminal deadbeat dad!" and the story threads kept weaving in and out and....and....sigh.
Really, the nail in the fucking coffin wasn't just the Nathan-centric finale, but then volume 3 opens and it's Sylar. And he's alive and indestructive and goes "I'm ba-ack...." I didn't want any Sylar at all in S2! If he's all over S3...no. No no no no no.
Sucker that I am, I'll probably watch the premiere and the next 3-4 eps. But not enjoying it. sigh.
