Just dropping back to this post to say that you were right on all counts: I did find a lot of the songs you posted waaaaaaaaaaaay too sappy ballad-y for my taste, but two of the songs I liked a LOT. I couldn't tell who they were, though, because I don't have Chinese characters installed on the computer, so I had a very pretty piano-y song and a very bouncy song that I could not identify!
I've been cleaning up my iTunes over the past couple of days, though, and today I came back to this post and re-downloaded all the songs (...what? it worked!) and was finally able to match the tracks with your descriptions of them... and they are both Stefanie Sun songs ("Tian He He" -- that's the transliteration I found via your Wikipedia link -- and "Lu Guang" respectively). I like her voice too!
