Spooks/MI-5 5x08-5x10
Sat, Sep. 22nd, 2007 08:04 pmSpoilers like whoa!
GAAAAAAH. I was so sure Adam was going to get it during the finale, particularly after all the previouslies and his not-so-great mental state.
I wasn't too impressed with the Christian extremists episode, particularly when it became the Jewish/Muslim/Christian religion extremist free-for-all in the end. And part of me is a little surprised that it took so long for them to bring in Wes! I like how it was just him running away, not a massive government conspiracy to take out Adam, as so many of the episodes seem to be massive government conspiracies.
And oh Adam. I am glad you broke up with Jenny. And while I think some of that may have been emotional cowardice a la what Jenny said, most of it was pure common sense. Plus there's the thing in which it is just Not of the Good to be sleeping with someone in your employ!
rilina commented that the Carter house was unnaturally neat, given the existence of a small child there, so it was nice to see the house become a complete mess after Jenny left. I liked the twistiness of the rogue MI-6 spy episode, and man, did Ros have a bad day in that one! I was yelling at the screen the entire time though, as Adam was making some rather Tom-esque decisions. He so should have taken the guy in to Harry from the get go!
I am very amused by the cinematography that is supposed to indicate Adam undergoing a mental breakdown.
I continue to absolutely adore Ros and her ordering Adam's psychological profile. And Harry still gets the best lines. Also, I would like to note that giving out confidential psychitric information in the case that your patient is going to injure himself or others may be against the Hippocratic oath, but it's definitely legal and all patients in the US at least have to sign a waiver to that effect (afaik).
Near the end, I wasn't sure if Adam and Ros were even going to make it! Agggh!
Want more Jo and Zaf backstory; I think we're getting a lot of Ros and clearly a ton of Adam, but I'd like more focus on those two. And Ros and Zaf have a very interesting chemistry, as do Zaf and Jo.
I continue to love how Adam will go completely batshit and then proceed to be coolly logical afterward. As Rilina and I were discussing afterward, Adam has good instincts. Tom, on the other hand, really does not. Still, I'm sort of hoping that this is the end to the Adam-mental-illness bit, as I am personally not that interested in it and it is almost painful to watch Adam make stupid decisions. I keep yelling at the TV! Because no! Adam is the competent one!
Plus, enough with the white male angst!
