Sasaki Teiko and Takaku Shoko - Kissing (Eng. trans.)

I managed to randomly pick out a shounen ai title at the bookstore without completely squicking myself out! Yay!

Unfortunately, I've pretty much forgotten everyone's name already, due to downloading entirely too much manga over the weekend. Anyhow Boy 1 and Boy 2 have been best friends forever. Then for a reason that is solely the author playing god, they end up kissing. Boy 1 is completely freaked out about this. Boy 2 is mostly not affected. Boy 1 then discovers that Boy 2 has been in love with him for forever, a tiny bit of angst ensues as Boy 1 proceeds to be very clueless, but not quite as clueless as some CLAMP characters can be (*ahem*Legal Drug*ahem*Watanuki*ahem*).

It's not very deep or meaningful or anything, but it's cute and sweet and while there is a bit of interaction that begins as slightly non-consensual, I like very much that Boy 2 cannot go through with it and falls back to being his nice, cute self.

Is the art in Kissing good? I really enjoy sweet shonen-ai stories. Have you tried Only The Ring Finger Knows? It's got a very sweet story, significant rings, a tiny episode of pinky promises, and fabulous shojo layout.

Also, if you get squicked by the usual shonen-ai tropes, you can ignore my link to Dr. Ten downloads. I'd be happy to find you some safe examples of her lovely inking that should be squickless.

I don't actually remember the art at all, so it probably wasn't stunningly good.

I think I've read the back of Only the Ring Finger Knows several times; I shall go back and see if it's unwrapped so I can read it ;).

Non-squicky Dr. Ten would be great!

Oh, speaking of pretty art, I found this, which is a vampire story that's potentially interesting but gaaaaaah the art is so beautiful. It's more the wispy, delicate style than bolder inks though. But gaaaaah, so beautiful. (actually, I think this scanlation group picks a lot of interesting art.)

Oooooh, lovely art! I really like the eyes. *Downloads the rest* I like the whispy shojo style, but I don't always like the stories that go with that style if that makes sense. This vampire one reminds me a bit of manwha in that all the characters seem so leggy and the eyes are so dark. Lovely!

I'll scan in a bit of Dr. Ten tomorrow morning. I am not sure why I adore her inks so so much, but I do. I'd love to hear what you think about them.

I think I know what you mean about the stories that go with the style. Sometimes they are too shoujo and too wispy. But sometimes they are beautiful and ephemeral too...
