oyceterI continue to be impressed by the foreshadowing so far! And finally, the long, boring story of Setsuna attempting to retrieve Sara's soul from Hell is over, and a lot of the cooler bits that I remember are finally coming into play.
I squee about the Mad Hatter! I love the whole "I am so dirty that the second the object of my affection returned my love, I would stop loving him because he had the bad taste to love me" thing. And oh, Kurai. I'm still not quite sure why I haven't warmed to Setsuna yet, despite having read a lot of the series; I think part of it is because everyone and their mother falls in love with him or swears undying loyalty, or both.
I wish Yuki had done a little more with Alexiel, but that's probably because I adore Alexiel and always want to see more of her. But it's odd seeing Setsuna in Alexiel's body.
Poor Kira doesn't get all that much to do in this arc until... dun dun DUN! His face looks just like Lucifer's! He is Lucifer's soul, put into an evil sword and destined to be reincarnated with Alexiel over many lifetimes!
I also completely forgot about the entire Animus Mundi subplot, complete with Zaphkiel's switching of sides, his sad and tragic backstory, and his attempts to hurt Raziel in order to keep him safe. Mmm gah. Now I'm sad that I forgot to write some bits on Zaphkiel into my Yuletide request, but oh well.
I was rather annoyed about Sara-as-Jibril, not because of the big reveal that she is actually Jibril, but the sort of humor that goes on in the beginning with her not being able to see and falling on Raphael and the like. But then, there's the subplot with Lil and Sara, and Sara finally takes a stand and tells Setsuna that she has to go back, because she can't have others continue to hurt because of her attempts to be with Setsuna. Yay Sara! I also cheered when she chopped off her hair.
I'm sort of sad about Arachne, but for some reason, I keep thinking he'll come back, largely because no one in Angel Sanctuary seems to stay dead for long (see: Sara and Setsuna). The return of Kato was rather unexpected, and of course, the whole doppelganger thing had me completely confused when they called down Raphael to heal Setsuna's body. I'm not very good at identifying people in the first place, and when they can change their physical appearance, my confusion multiplies tenfold.
I am now very tempted to run out to Borders and get all the rest. Alas, Viz's translation continues to be tone deaf.

(and I just bought vols. 13-16 even though I really shouldn't have because I am getting so excited because SPOILER is coming up and SPOILER is SO COOL and reduces me to incoherent jibbering every single time, no matter how much I talk or think about it.)
